(USS Illuminar -- Isoward sickbay -- Deck 5 -- Dr. Agnes Vanderstein and MO Dr. Kyllee Stev -- 1420)

Aggie had just finished her walkthrough of the holodeck. The crew from the planet had been settling into their new accommodations. After taking initial notes and speaking with Quinna, Aggie left for sickbay isolation rooms. Quinna wanted blood from everyone.

Aggie walked into the sickbay and to the back where the isolation rooms were set up. She had taken Iso rooms one and two and removed the wall between them so Kyllee also had a comfortable place to rest. She pulled up the file for Ensign Tavay. She was the Romulan officer that was typically a Bridge replacement officer.

Looking around she noticed Dr. Kyllee sitting close to her. Nurse Kelley was in the distance running lab work. “Dr. Kyllee,” Agnes called out.

Stev looked around and gave Aggie a weak smile. He guessed they really hadn’t had enough interaction to be on a first-name basis.

The last 25 hours hadn’t been easy, on several levels. Tavay’s symptoms had grown from what appeared to be muscle weakness, to a form of paralysis on her right leg. He hadn’t been able to find the source of the problem. What he did know was that it was not simply neuromuscular. There was something there. And he was certain that it came from the Ixtal. Which meant something viral or bacteriological.

All of his efforts, so far, hadn’t shown any cause. But the holo display of the biobed showed the path of the muscle weakness. And it was spreading. He forced himself to his feet and moved over to her.

“Dr. Vanderstein,” he tried to smile, but his mouth muscles just weren’t up to the task. Plus, his vision had become slightly blurry from fatigue. “How’s everyone in the holodeck? Commander Gregory?”

“I am about to go back and check on him. He seemed a bit loopy. I do need to check on you. Dr. Solice wants your blood.” Aggie said in almost a vampire tone.

Stev looked at Aggie accusingly and said, “She does realize that I’m using my blood right now?”

He lifted his PADD and tapped a command on it. “I’ve been taking blood readings every two hours. I just sent you and Quinna the latest results. Maybe you two can make more of them than I’ve been able to do.”

“Just the messenger here. Don’t shoot. Anyway…Ensign Tavay does not seem to be doing well. Any messages you need me to pass along?”

He shrugged, “Let her know that Tavay’s condition is slowly progressing. I predict that she’ll have no use of her legs within the next 24 hours. She’s handling it well, but I have been giving her a mild sedative to take the edge off her anxiety.”

“Got it. Now, what can I do for you?” Aggie asked.

Kyllee was taken a little by surprise. It wasn’t often people asked him what they could do for him. He wasn’t sure how to respond. He rubbed the bridge of his nose and into the corners of his eyes, hoping that he could get a better focus on his fellow doctor. Then he shook his head.

“I don’t really need anything,” he replied, “except maybe answers.” Then he stretched out his shoulders, indicating he’d been sitting over his computer too long. “And a good night’s sleep. Which won’t be coming soon.”

“Curl up on the other bed and get some rest. You may not be able to get it later. I will talk with Quinna.” Aggie winked at Stev and turned to leave. She was heading back to the Holodeck isolation ward.
