(Zertos III - The Entity - 1000)

The ephemerals flitted about so.  Like the strange flying creatures of 
the planet.  It did not understand the activity.  There was no rhyme, no 
logic, no beauty to it.

It wished to hear the songs again.  But still could not.

It slowly started to extend itself.  Listening.  With all these 
ephemerals around, surely one must know the songs.

These ephemerals were different from the previous ones. They were all 
not the same.   That intrigued it.  Probing further, with the skill of a 
burgler, it began to listen.

And it heard.

It was not the songs.  It was nonsensical. The songs it heard were not 
pretty, not melodic.  They were chaotic, overlapping, hectic.  It became 
sad.

And being sad, began its own song.  Slow and mournful.  Full of all its 
sadness, loneliness.
