"Thank you," said Ariel Trei, "I could train you for the Rite if you are
interested but for now I would like to invite all to the prancing pony at
15.00 for blood wine and celebration. Spread the word. I probably have
house business to deal with until then."

Lanista smiled, showing her Vulcan dentition. When she was a child aboard
the pirate ship Chalche'yon, some of the non-Klingon crewmembers had dubbed
her «F'lansopra» in one of the languages of the Empire's hinterland. The
epithet meant "leaf-eater." Lani' tolerated this and other insults until
her unique biology made her tall enough and strong enough to gain the upper
hand.

Looking down at Ariel, Lani' said, "Training for the Rite would probably
prove fruitless and frustrating. For both of us. I am too Klingon for the
«Kolinahr» and too Vulcan for the «nentay». I am also well past the age of
ascension. I will however happily join you at the Prancing Pony."

AFter a brief pause, the hybrid woman added, "As to your House business,
should you find yourself in need of a «DevwI'» I have already served in
that capacity for the House of DI'al. You may, of course, retain whoever
presently occupies that position, but you'd have to know and trust them to
serve your interests rather than any residual matters of the previous
«joH». That is your affair, though."
