(Qo'nos- Council Chamber - Minister Pe'tah - 0808)

Pe'tah touched the scar on his cheek. He looked around the chamber for Gordu but he was conspicuously absent. This led to certain concern from the Minister since it most likely would mean some kind of retaliation later for the humiliation he caused the younger Klingon.

When Morek began to speak Pe'tah returned his attention to the goings on with the Council. he made a stunning, and uncharacteristically brilliant analogy between Bloodwine and bloodlines. Clearly, he had spent time preparing. His statements made a clear impact on the council, especially among those who were in his camp. He could also see some of the more progressive houses start to think about their position.

While he talked he walked around the table of the council asking for everyone to consider whether they considered allowing mixed races to be part of the Klingon culture. Then he stopped behind Pe'tah. He could feel the Chancellor's pressence behind him as he spoke.

"And if we do, where does it end?" Morek concluded.

Pe'tah was being challenged directly. He wasn't sure why the Chancellor was not willing to listen to reason. Times had changed since the days of Kahless. The universe had gotten much larger, and Klingons were not to be denied their place in it. As part of their... spoils... many Klingons had opted to take mates of other cultures. It was a choice.

He stood and turned to face the challenge directly, "Where does it end? Perhaps we should look more to where it began. Klingons taking off world mates is not a new idea. Wharf, himself, had taken a mixed blood mate. None would consider him less of a Klingon. While I agree that mixing Bloodwine with something else makes it different, does that necessarily make it worse? Do we not add spice to our food to give it a different flavor? Does that take away from the food or add to our enjoyment of it?"

He made his own circle around the table and suddenly pulled out his d'hak tang, "Think of our blades," he said, driving his into the table. "If we only used one metal to create them then they would be weaker than those in which we blend different metals. The amalgam of the metals is what gives them strength. I ask you," he pulled his blade from it's place, "is the Klingon empire built on its Bloodwine, or on the strength of its metal."

(reply Morek, any)
