Mission:  For Honor
Day: 5
Stardate: 2446.04.29

(USS Illuminar - COps Office - a1O CMDR Dieter Gregory - 0900)

Gregory was reviewing the information that had been compiled for him on
the extent of the damage and state of repairs.  The new Chief was doing
a good job prioritizing his work crews.

"Begin recording," he said, "Stardate 2446.04.29 acting first officers
log.  The attack on the Illuminar didn't do as much damage as it could
have.  Chief of engineering Tegian Pex, has been performing his job
well.  His teams have repaired much of hte superficial damage, although
he estimates it will be until tomorrow before we have a working shuttle
bay.  For the moment, we are using the cargo bays in deck 9 in case we
need to land a craft.

What is more of a concern is the question of sabotage  of the fire
suppression systems in the turbolift.  The current suspect had to know
about the threat of the explosion, and sought to impact the ability to
repair damage or perform other duties.  Lieutenants Weston and Trei were
briefing the Captain yesterday.  Since the suspect is an Ambassador, we
are treading lightly in this area.  While the computer fingerprint is a
good clue, we need much more evidence to strip the Ambassador of rank
and immunity.  A full analysis of the explosion and information around
the explosive are being tackled now, which I hope will provide more
information." he paused.

"On a sad note, Crew woman Joy Chino was killed on the surface in a
furtive attempt to deal with a perceived threat to the Ambassadors.   I
am waiting for the final report and recommendations from Commander T'Mur
before we can close that chapter.  The body was returned to the ship,
and an autopsy is being conducted to determine if more can be learned
more about the attack. We know a bladed weapon was used, indicting the
assailant got very close.  I am finishing up the letter to her parents
that will be delivered by the local notification officer later today."

Pausing again, he considered his next words.  "It feels we are being
manipulated by an as yet unknown party. While the Klingon houses are
regularly feuding, this feels more sophisticated than that.  Who would
benefit from the treaty not being signed?  The Romulans?  What other
force in the beta quadrant, or alpha for that matter, would benefit from
disarray and discontent  between the Federation and the Klingon Empire."

He paused again, "Computer, end recording. "

Gregory pushed his chair back to think.
