(USS Illuminar - Deck 11 - Main Engineering - EO - ENS/JG Dano Vermyx -

"Dano... the Kronk?  Is that a title?  A nickname?" asked Wednesday.

"Street handle. Alias. I'm an Iotian," Vermyx explained.

"Fluffy, huh," the girl said, in reference to Dano's pet. "Vibrations?" She
had started to think: "Well, if she likes vibrations she'd be around the
warp core. That's where the deck plating vibrates the most."

She started to move around the thrumming core and saw something small
and... well... fluffy, flittering around it. "Dano," she called out softly,
"I think I found your little friend."  She held out her hand and the
lucidan landed on it.  She smiled and looked over at Vermyx.  "I've always
had a way with animals."

"Listen," she said after a pause, "I know you said you wouldn't tell on me
but.... well... I'm on kind of a scavenger hunt. All of the cadets are
playing. My... friends," it was a word she wasn't used to saying, "are
kicking my butt in it.  Would you be willing to help me?"

"Look-see, I don't s'pose y'know what 'Omerta' is, but not only will I not
rat you out, I'll actually help. Not only widd y'r hunt, but with your … um
… cover story. In my line'a work — well, my old one — a dirty job required
superior 'cleanin' skills,' if y'r pickin' up what I'm layin' down. So,
yeah. Count me in!"
