“Is it because I’m new or does he always check up on his officers?” 
inquired Scott.

"I have found that Commander Gregory is a very hands on officer  He 
wants his department to run, as he says, 'Ship shape and Bristol 
fashion'.  He has a lot of responsibilities as second officer and takes 
pride in operations,  Why, when he was 3rd officer, he used to have us 
have a meal together before shift.  No ranks, just getting together to 
prepare for shift and to know each other.  Whatever the reason, if he's 
asking for you, it is not a bad thing."

(USS Illuminar - Deck 2 - COps Office - 2/O&COps CMDR Dieter Gregory - 1315)

Pleasantries exchanged, Gregory pulled up some data on the computer. "It 
looks like things are progressing nicely with the upgrade, excellent.  
What is left to do?" he asked.

Gregory nodded, "Very good.  I had a meeting this morning with Science, 
Lieutenant T'shalaith, and discussed with her the tests to perform on 
the upgraded sensors.  I want you two to interface with science and 
conduct the testing with them.  Let them conduct the tests, and you 
independently monitor the results.  Science will be focused on sensor 
sensitivity, precision, and response time,  I want you two to focus on 
power consumption, interface speed and such.  Basically looking at the 
results from a different angle.  Does that make sense?"

"Excellent, when you are done, report to the Lieutenant and begin the 
testing.  Any other questions?"

"Very good, dismissed," Gregory said with a nod.
