Alex finished playing his song and was surprised to find that he had an audience. ~Oh, great, my greatest fan.~ One of the staff had been kind enough to tell him who was who yesterday, so he now knew everybody’s name, rank and department. Which was how he knew that his visitor was Lieutenant Michael Weston, the Illuminar’s resident spook.

“That was very nice, where’d a rocket jockey like you learn to play like that?”

 “In the Santa Maria orphanage on Mars. It’s over at Utopia Colony,” He paused. “My teacher was the Rabbi who gave the music lessons. He passed and left me this beauty.”

“I tried other instruments, but this one was what I was the best at.”

“Of course, I didn’t play THIS violin back then. I used a replicated one, which I gave back when I left,” He paused. “I don’t know if you heard yesterday, but this is a Stradivarius. An original one.”
