Bohb’s head had begun to spin as he tried to understand what he was being told. His brow furrowed and his lips pursed. He wondered how long it took for Vermyx to learn to speak in a manner that was so difficult to understand, and how he made it through the academy without an instructor beating him to death. Or at least learning to use a more common language. It was almost as difficult as conversing with Penn and Teller. Almost.
When he stopped with, “Get me?” Bohb shook his head to clear it.
“Sooo,” he said in an effort to put the information together in a way he was clear of, “let me make sure I got this straight. You have always been good at fixing things. I can relate to that, as I had a similar experience of taking things apart to put them back together again, Then you worked on a Pakled ship. Very interesting, as I have found that Pakleds are… not very bright. But you were unhappy there and left. You wound up with the Ferengi. Then you were… arrested?... and given a choice between joining Starfleet or prison?”
(reply Vermyx)
“That’s fascinating,” Bohb said. His own experience was not nearly as colorful, but still very similar. He had a rare gift on his own homeworld and was unhappy, so he did what nobody had expected, he left. And he had a variety of experiences on different ships until he wound up on Vulcan at the transport hub until he ran into Sekal.
“Could you clarify a couple of things for me?” Bohb asked.
(reply Vermyx)
“What exactly,” he searched his memory for the word, “simoleans. They sound like some kind of infection since you have to scrape them off to make things clean.”
(reply Vermyx)
“Okay, one more,” Bohb said, getting excited that he was starting to understand this fellow. “Flivver? You stole one? What is it, and why would you take something that did not belong to you.”
Magillans had a low sense of ownership, so stealing things was a very difficult concept to them.
(reply Vermyx)
“I see,” Bohb said, not really sure that he did. “So what would you consider to be your main focus in engineering?”
(reply Vermyx))
