Mission: Prelude
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.03.24
(USS Illuminar - Deck 4 - Outside Transporter room 1 - 1145)
Dieter had left his office and took a slow walk around the ship,
checking on different projects that Operations was managing. It was
only the second day of the refits and diagnostic testing and many of the
projects were well underway. Crawling through the bowels of the ship
was taking a toll on his leg thought. He was leaning more heavily on
the cane than he had when he woke up.
Pausing at a junction, he pulled out his PADD to check something.
Fortunately no new messages for him to deal with. CPO Ywan was busy
working on the restocking, and she was trying to get some of those
special items that the crew loved. He wondered what he might have to
trade. People expected operations to work miracles to keep them in
their creature comforts. He chuckled thinking about the stash of Vulcan
Brandy that Ywan scored when they were last at Vulcan.
Passing by Transporter 1, he heard the sounds of the system cycling. He
thought that was odd, so he paused and entered the room.
He was surprised to see his three cadets there. They were busy and
didn't hear him enter the room. "One more time," Diggory said. "It has
to work," he said, "Ensign McFry told me how to do it."
"What has to work?" Gregory asked, startling the three cadets. "And
what are you doing?" he said as he checked his PADD. "According to
this, you are supposed to be assigned to the consumable resupply process."
The cadets came to attention, "Sir, Commander," Cadet Luna Lovegood
said, "We have been waiting for the next delivery."
"Yes, that's right Sir," Nyphadora Tonks added. "We were told they
would transport it here."
He chuckled. Cadets he thought to himself. "Someone seems to have
given you the wrong information. Those pallets were coming by shuttle,
so go get them and make sure those consumables are properly
resupplied." He turned to go before pausing and looking over his
shoulder. "You need to adjust the angular confinement beam to -0.0132
and make sure the the Heisenberg compensator is boosted by 0.95 over
standard. Just don't let the Captain catch you shirking your duties."
The three cadets looked amazed at Gregory. "Yes Sir, thank you Sir,"
came the choir of cadets.
Checking the time, he moved to the turbolift and headed to deck 5.
(USS Illuminar - Deck 5 - Sickbay - 1200)
Gregory walked into sick bay and looked around. The place was quiet,
like a ghost town. Spying Dr. Vanderstein, who had her back turned to
him, he crept up on her, well as anyone with a cane could creep.
