Mission:  Prelude

Day: 3

Stardate: 2446.03.25

(SS Arthur M. Anderson - SO CPO Hercules Devers - 1200)

Devers was in what passed for a gym on the Anderson. It had enough to
keep him occupied at least. He was working up a good sweat and losing
himself in pumping iron. His muscles welcomed the workout with each rep.
Having scared the crew away with his workout, he enjoyed the silence.

Standing up from the bench, he wiped the sweat from his brow, and moved
over to the heavy bag. As he worked over the bag, each blow releasing
something buried deep inside him. And there was a lot there.

His mind drifted to his year in the mirror universe on the Rhyne. It was
shortly after Captain Gregory had been incapacitated, and one might have
thought they were doomed. Especially when the light cruiser came on the
Rhyne. Totally random, what was the coincidence.

While the acting Captain was busy bluffing his ass off, the Chief led a
strike force over to the other ship, with the goal to take out the
engines and communications. The Cruiser was an older ship, so didn't
have the same sensor coverage that the Rhyne had.

Entering above engineering, Taylor quickly planted the explosives to
take out the warp core. As Devers was leading them out to the extraction
point, they came across a security detail. Surprisingly, Devers saw one
of his classmates, Surzil, there with a feral look in his eyes. The
security detail pulled knives and the fight ensued. They lost a man they
couldn't lose. The Rhyne was dangerously understaffed.

Devers eventually faced off against his one-time friend. It took all
Devers skill to block the knife. Somewhere Surzil had upped his knife
fighting. As Devers went to block with his baton, he felt the
transporter grab him. He disappeared as Surzil lunged.

Appearing on the transport pad, the knife dropped to the floor. As
Taylor's handiwork took out the cruiser, Devers felt the ship go to warp.

The crash shook him out of his dream. Looking around, the heavy bag was
on the ground, ripped from the chains that held it up.
