(SS Hydra - Cargo Bay - Civilian Mackenzie, daughter of K'Nera - 0807)

Mackenzie Dyson had turned a small corner of the Hydra's cargo bay into her home for the trip to New Romulus. Mackenzie or "Mac" as her friends called her, was fifteen years old. He mother - K'Nera - was a file clerk at the Klingon Embassy on Farius Prime. And when she wasn't working, she was drunk. So her mother had not noticed when she had received money from New Romulus. Nor had she noticed when Mac had bought a ticket on the Hydra and left the planet.

As for where she was going and why, that was a more complicated story. Mac's mother was Klingon and her father was Human. She didn't know much about him. But she had knew that he was called Alex Dyson and that she was not only child he had conceived.

Three years ago, she had discovered that she had a half-sister called Antonia. After finding out about her, Mac had written a Antonia a letter. And Antonia had written back. ~And mom never noticed a thing. Which is typically her.~

The two sisters had kept writing back and forth for three years. With neither caring about the fact that half of them were from species that weren't supposed to get along. ~Something are more important then politics.~ And then Toni had found an old card with login information for a bank account on Ferenginar. ~Kicking off my escape.~

So here she was aboard the Hydra, with her few belongings. It was a miserable, dirty and slow former Cardassian vessel. It was what she thought was called a Bok'Nor class ship. She also figured that the ship was probably like a hundred years old.

Her captain was a rather unclean and rude man called William Zander. Mac didn't like him one bit and kept away from the sleazy human when she could. And to make things worse, the trip to New Romulus would take weeks. And she was only six days in. ~I just hope Daddy dearest is worth it.~

K'Nera had never talked about her father and Mac only what she knew because of Toni. She was reading Toni's newest letter when Zander approached her. He was holding a baton of the kind that primitive police forces used.

"Pack you stuff, kid, the jig is up."

"What are you talking about ?"

"Your mother called. I'm putting you on the Titanic. It will take you back to Farius Prime."

The Titanic was Hydra's only support craft, an old Romulan Bloodwing-class runabout. This was the model of runabout that Senator Vreenak had been aboard - back in the day - when he had been blown up by the Dominion. Mac remembered that from her history class. She also remembered that this meant that the Titanic was actually a lot faster then the Hydra.

"So she finally figured it out. Well, too bad, because I'm not going back."

"Yes, you are..."

The man threaten her with the baton and nodded towards the door to the shuttle-bay. But before he knew what hit him, she did. It only took two chops to send him to the floor like a sack of potatoes. ~Eww.~ Mac thought as she searched his pockets for the security card she needed. Finally, she found it and put it in her pocket. Then she began packing up her stuff and began planning her next move.

(RMS Titanic - Cockpit - Civilian Mackenzie, daughter of K'Nera - 0832)

Getting what Mac called the Romulan Moving Scrap-Pile Titanic out of the shuttle-bay had been far from easy. Sure, the security card had gotten her through the door and into the ship. But then there was the slight hiccup of getting the outer door open.

Fortunately for her, Zander appeared to have a policy of only hiring idiots for his crew. So a simple text message to the bridge had gotten them to drop out of warp and open the door. But their stupidity had not helped her with the huge hurdle of actually flying the Titanic. After bumping the runabout into bulkheads, floors and ceilings - and spinning it in place several times - she had, somehow, actually managed to the craft outside.

The crew of idiots had immediately taken the Hydra back to warp, while Mac as the Titanic tumbled through space.

"Whaaaaa ! Heeeeeeelp ! How do you turn on autopilot on this bucket !!?"

=^=Do you wish to engage auto-pilot ?=^=

"Yeeeeesss...." Mac yelled as she clung to one of the chairs and did her best not to lose her lunch.

=^=Destination ?=^=

"New Romulus."

=^=Acknowledged. Speed ?=^=

"Maximum warp."

=^=Acknowledged=^=

The Flight Control console beeped for a bit, then the autopilot started doing its job. First, it fired the RCS thrusters, breaking the ship out of it's spin. This allowed Mac to actually sit in the chair, instead of clinging to it like a leech. As she collected herself - and her things, which had been flung all over the cockpit - the ship engaged the impulse drive and figured out their location.

She had just returned to the chair when there was final beep and the ship jumped to warp. One of the displays showed a countdown. It was a lot shorter then the time it would have taken her to get their about the Hydra. But as she leaned back in the chair, she got the feeling that her troubles were only just beginning.
