Mission: Death in the Shadows

Day: 9

Stardate: 2446.02.09

(USSIlluminar -- Bridge -- Deck 1 -- FO Commander Sienna Williams-Verin &
CMO Lt. Quinna Solice -- 1410)

“Talk to me,” Quinna asked, sitting beside Sienna in the FO’s chair.

“Hey, Doc.” Her voice sounded pretty garbled through the cloth containing
the bleeding nose. “I fell flat on my face when the ship moved. More
precisely I blacked out. I know why though.” As much as it pained Sienna,
to keep up with Quinna’s deception, she could not tell Quinna the real
reason. And in the past, she would have touched Quinna to impart the
information telepathically, but Sienna was not sure how much of the
argument about her and T’Mur entering Quinna’s mind in a meld to destroy
the implanted personality was her actual feelings. As a result Sienna was
twitching a little bit, the conflicting desires causing her to be unable to
hold still.

“Sienna, I need you to hold still. I need to fix your nose.” Quinna said
as she reached for the device she needed to mend the nose.

Sienna tried to hold still for Quinna’s benefit, and it was painful as she
worked on the fractured nose.

“Well when you do something, you seem to do it right.” Quinna was not sure
how moving the ship would cause a blackout. “So a Blackout, that is not
good. Perhaps you should report to sickbay? What if you blackout again?”

“I know why, and I can not leave the bridge right now.” Sienna touched
Quinna’s arm as gently as she could and sent two thoughts, ::Keep this
confrontational and the blackout was because of Luma. It should not repeat.
I miss you.:: Three thoughts. Quickly, and Sienna made the touch look like
she was trying to stabilize herself using Quinna as an anchor.

“I still need you to hold still as the nose was still being repaired”
Quinna ordered.

Sienna tried to be meek, “Yes Doc, Ouch!” She whimpered as the cartilage
was forcibly put back in place.

Quinna put the mender down and started to fuse to broken capillaries on the
nose. “Since you are not going to get yourself checked out, maybe I should
stay on the bridge.” Quinna gave a reassuring nod that she understood the
message that was received.

“It would be advisable for you to do so. There may be more minor injuries
that take place before this battle is completely concluded.” Sienna
agreed, her tone neutral, trending towards cold.

“It will be on my report.” Quinna said and then handing a towelette to
Sienna, “Here, you can use this to clean the blood.”

Sienna took the moist towelette and carefully cleaned the blood from her
face, ignoring the drops on her uniform. That was what laundry was for.
“Thank you, Doc.” Still, her voice was cool. Obviously, there was something
wrong between the two women that had not been resolved.

“We will be boarding the ship within the hour, Doc. Do you have any
suggestions for the boarding team?” Sienna was not a great actress, but
she kept the coolness in her voice.

“Besides Security, I am not sure who should go. I can go if needed, but I
am not sure if I am needed.” Quinna suggested.

Sienna leveled a look on Quinna and asked a question, carefully, “Do you
feel the need to go?” She was not pleased with Quinna being part of the
intelligence community.

“No of course not. There is no medical emergency. See, I know nothing
about command.” How is your nose now?” Quinna asked. “It will be bruised
for a day or two. The area will be tender.”

“Bruised and tender. I’m sure the colors will be lovely as the bruises
fade.” She tried hard not to grin, “There will be medics in security, one
of the cadets has taken first aid training for instance. But you should be
prepared for injuries, as boarding does not always go according to plan.”

“Sickbay is always ready,” Quinna stated. Quinna sat back in the first
officer’s seat on the Bridge and crossed her legs. She looked at Sienna
and wondered what she knew. She hoped that she knew nothing as she did not
want to put her friend in any more danger.

Sienna brooded, watching Dr. Solice out of the corner of her eye. All of
this an act to convince others that Quinna was disaffected from her friends
and ripe for the picking. Sienna closed her eyes a moment, ::Luma, watch
over Quinna, please. Keep her safe.::
