(USS Illuminar - Deck 1 - Ready Room - CO- Captain Sekal - 1535)

The conversation with Luma had been over for 3.4 minutes when he got the
call that the cloaking device from the Klingon ship was enroute to the
Illuminar. Knowing it was best to give the engineering crew warning of what
was coming and with business to take care of otherwise he initiated a comm.

"Ensign Matrix to the Ready Room please."

(Reply: Matrix)

It would be several minutes before the engineer arrived so he got up from
the chair and walked around. The day had unfolded in some ways as expected
but completely without warning in others. The Security boarding parties had
been ordered to relax after returning to the ship while the database from
the scans was built up to give them a workable blueprint of the facility to
operate from. Going blind into an encounter was to be discouraged as he had
no intention of losing crewman unnecessarily. Picard had been lost during
the boarding of the freighter and such casualties sometimes happened but
when possible he wanted every crewman to return to the ship hale and
healthy. He was still on his feet when the chime sounded. "Come."

Sekal returned to his seat. "Please sit down Ensign, we some some matters
to discuss."

"You have no doubt heard that the cloaking device from the Klingon ship is
coming to the Illuminar via shuttle. I do not want the device installed
immediately. I need you and the engineering team to go over it thoroughly
and give me a detailed cross section scan of every millimeter including
composition and structural support, circuitry and power requirements. I
want to know exactly what we are working with when it is time to be
installed."

(Reply: Matrix)

"There is another matter." The Vulcan steepled his fingers. "I am logging
you as assistant to the Chief Engineering Officer of which we have none as
yet. The promotion entails added responsibilities which I believe you are
capable of handling efficiently." He brought up the monitor and holographic
interface and used it to officially log the promotion then fixed the human
with a look. "The new duty log has been added to your file and you will be
able to access it immediately."
