NRPG: I know, another battle scene has begun. This was a good break to get some more interactions. If you want in on the bridge scene let me know. Otherwise, everybody can respond to the attack here. FYI- something bad is about to happen.

Mission: Death in the Shadows
Day: 9
Stardate 2446.02.09
(Wolverine Warcraft Dhar’G’Ling- Bridge - Commander- Wesley Roberts – 1346)
Roberts sat in the command chair staring at his prey ahead of him. He had received “directions” to get the ship to turn away or get rid of it by any means available. He liked that phrase, any means available. It had such broad connotations. But for Roberts it meant only one thing, destroy.
However, he did have the obligation to coerce the ship to change its course first. So he slowed the advancing force to give them time to “listen to reason.” With a heavy sigh he turned to the Klingon at the Ops station.
“Bortok, open a hailing line to the Illuminar,” he ordered. An image of a woman came on and Roberts smiled, an evil smile to increase his intimidation factor.
“I am the dread pirate Roberts, of the ship Dhar’G’Ling,” he announced. “You are ordered to change route and leave the system or be destroyed. You are outnumbered and out matched.”
(USS Illuminar - Bridge - FO Commander Sienna Williams-Verin - 1348)
Sienna stood up with a feral grin on her features. “I am Commander Sienna Verin, the First Officer of the USS Illuminar. Three of our Officers have been kidnapped and I am not leaving this system without them. When they are returned, perhaps we will leave. Perhaps not. But as to the outnumbered? Only slightly, Pirate Roberts. Out matched? No. We are not outmatched. But thank you for your concern. It is appreciated.”
Roberts laughed, =^=Your bravado does you credit, woman. But it’ll take more than brave words and postures to keep you alive. =^=
He looked over his shoulder and nodded. =^=Fire missiles. Open commands to the other ships. =^=
A series of photonics torpedoes came flying from the Dhar’G’Ling towards the Illuminar.
Sienna nodded towards Gregory, “Close the channel. Avoid those torpedoes and fire back with our dark matter phasers.” What she wanted to say was ‘carve that ship up like a turkey’ but she didn’t want to confuse anyone. “Ensign Bohb has come up with a defense against the further kidnapping of our people. We will rescue the Captain after we deal with this chaos.”
With the appearance of Ensign Tavay on the bridge, Gregory breathed a sigh of relief. Making a mental note, he would have to work with CPO Falcon to get a better handle on the tactical systems, more than the basics from command. Back at operations, he started scanning the enemy ship for other weaknesses, a back door into their computer system or such.
Tavay stood strong at the tactical systems. Shields were at 100%. She fired back as ordered.
Sienna watched the dark matter phasers wipe out the photon torpedoes and then only rock the pirate ship. The other 2 ships were closing in to add their attacks in a bracketing maneuver and Sienna almost cheered as Tempest Gray Wolf’s flying kept the Illuminar out of that particular trap.
It was ridiculously easy, you just had to think in three dimensions. Too many space battles were fought as though the participants were rolling over the landscape. With the missiles incoming Tempest shut down the main impulse vents and opened the thrust plates on the underside of the secondary hull and rerouted power. "Evasive maneuvers Commander." She gave the thrust plates full power and the ship slowly at first but with increasing speed began to rise up on its "Y" axis. Illuminar shot above the plane the missiles were fired and they began impacting and exploding long after the ship was clear. The ascent also exposed the enemy ships to the standard ventral plane phasers that would damage their shielding.

Roberts watched the Illuminar take evasive maneuvers to avoid their torpedoes. He turned to Bortok. He wanted to have fun but he did not want to prolong the battle. It would waste their resources.
“Bortok, inform the others to fire at will,” he called out.
“They’re firing a weapon,” the Romulan at weapons control called out, “it is destroying all of our torpedoes in its path.”
Roberts nodded, “This will be this dark energy weapon we heard about. Let’s test the ability of that weapon. Attack pattern Delta. Fire a second volley, add the stealth torpedoes. Fire forward disruptors.”
He smiled, feeling very much like the pirate he claimed to be. But before the second volley could be fired the ship was hit by the Dark Matter Phaser. It shook and shuddered hard, but the shields held.
“Other than the concussive wave, the dark energy weapon was ineffective against our shields,” Bortok announced.
However the volley of regular phaser fire was a little more effective, and rocked the Dhar’G’Ling on its axis. He looked at the damage reports pouring in. Still nothing major. Shields were holding at 80%, with minor structural damage.
“Fire damn it,’ he called out, “fire.”
(USS Illuminar - Bridge - FO Commander Sienna Williams-Verin - 1351)
The EM pulse generated by the navigational deflector spread out with the Illuminar at its center on both X and Y axis and each torpedo it touched jolted as though rocked by a wave of turbulent energy as its guidance system was fried. Any auxiliary systems such as stealth technology was fried with it. Tempest had switched back to the main impulse drive and sent the ship into a slowly descending spiral that avoided the wave of launches. At this point the enemy ships were more of a danger to one another than they were to the Federation Starship.
Sienna watched with pleasure as the torpedoes were taken out wholesale and not one actually touched the ship. For the moment there was blinding lights as the explosions met and then the space was clear, the fragments gone. A mild concussive wave rocked the ship.
Tavay held tight to the console. When she was able to look back down she announced, “Shields holding, at 99%, Ma’am.”
“Fire three quantum torpedo spreads at the lead cruiser, please Ensign Tavay.”
Tavay let out the trio of torpedoes, however only two was seen going across the screen, “There is a malfunction in one of the forward torpedo tubes, Ma’am.”
“Malfunction or sabotage?” Sienna asked out loud, then flushed a bit. “Clear the tube, and reload.”
Tavay punched her control pad and loaded the working tube with another quantum torpedo and launched it. “Fired, Ma’am.”
(Wolverine Warcraft Dhar’G’Ling- Bridge - Commander- Wesley Roberts – 1354)
Roberts slammed his hand on the armrest of his command chair.
“Are you serious!” he exclaimed. “Missing every single torpedo was NOT in the budget for this mission.”
The good news was that they didn’t manage to shoot each other. And although the federation ship’s countermeasures nullified their weapons, their own attacks only gave nominal damage to their own shielding. He couldn’t say the same to his brothers on the other ships. But they were idiots, and he wasn’t particularly surprised. He imagined the smug look on the face of this Commander Verin. He wanted to wipe that imaginary smile off her imaginary face.
It was time to make good with some of their more recent acquisitions. “Dhar’G’Ling to the Kang, now is a good time for some aid.”
(reply any, especially the Kang)
