Mission: Death in the Shadows

Day 8

Stardate:2446.02.08

(USS Illuminar - Deck 2 - Quarters -- SFI Michael Weston/CMO Lt. Quinna
Solice -- 0145)

Quinna had been laying in bed when the message came through, she could not
sleep. She figured that if the price she was paying was lack of sleep then
she was good with that. She got up and noticed the pending message. She
deleted the message and pulled on her boots. She picked up her commbaged
to attach it to her shirt but then looked at it instead. Decided that at
this point, it was too heavy to wear. She heard the clang as she tossed it
on the coffee table. She grabbed her black cardigan and draped it around
her shoulders and left her quarters.

It was less than 20 steps and she was there. She was outside Michael’s
quarters. She rang the chime waiting for the response to enter. She
looked around her surroundings. She wanted to be prepared. When the door
slid open, she looked in the door, “What do you want?” The tone was cold.

Michael was clearly taken aback, firstly that she was even at his door so
early, and secondly by her manner. He looked down the corridor, both ways,
then pulled her into an impassioned embrace. His mouth locked on hers as he
pulled her inside and held her against the wall as the door closed.

As soon as the door closed he released her and stepped back. “Well good
morning to you too,” he said with his usual charismatic smile. “You’re a
bit earlier than I expected.”

Before she could say anything Weston began to rub Quinna up and down her
body. Before she could say anything he put a hand over her mouth. He pulled
out a device and ran it around her like a medical tricorder. When the
device beeped he released Quinna completely and smiled.

“You seem upset,” he said.

“I did not want to break Character yet.” Quinna moved past Michael and
headed to a chair. “I couldn’t sleep, So I thought I would come now,” She
paused. “I can go. Probably better that way.”

“Well thank goodness for insomnia,” Michael was still being jovial. “But
now that you’re here you’re going to have to stay. It would look strange if
you were only here for a few seconds.

He rubbed his neck for the twelfth time, “At least Sekal kept his word to
act normally. How did things go after he dropped me?”

“It went maybe as expected. He turned his back and walked off, but it was
Sienna that I had to deal with.” Quinna watched Michael rub his neck.
“Sit Down,” Quinna ordered. Quinna reached up to Michael’s shoulder and
started to massage it. “How bad is it? I have never had the pleasure of
receiving the infamous Vulcan Neck Pinch. By the way, you were a little
rough.”

Michael closed his eyes as he felt Quinna’s talented fingers dig into the
flesh and muscle of his shoulder. “I wouldn’t recommend it for a regular
Saturday evening event. If you want to try, I’m sure I can convince Sekal
to give you a whirl.”

He grabbed Quinna’s hand and pulled her arm into his vision. He could see
the small fingertip bruises forming. “I’m sorry, I guess I got a bit
carried away. T’Mur might. Be impressed.”

“Tell me about Verin,” he said, concerned.

Quinna took her arm back and resumed massaging Michael’s shoulders, “I
don’t want to talk about it. I tore into her. You know the old saying
from Earth, 'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt
me,’” Pausing for a moment, “Well I would have done less harm with sticks
and stones.”

“If it helps,” he offered, “I am sorry. You’ll be able to repair the damage
when this is all over,” he lied. He’d lost too many good friends in his
career. Some he killed. Some things are hard to come back from.

Quinna thought about his words. She did not care that she lost her
friends. She wanted to protect them.

He turned around and looked at her. “We did get their attention. I had a
visitor earlier. I believe we have got their interest. However, I fear
that I am still… suspect.”

“Why is that?” Quinna asked. “Is there more?”

“Let’s just say that I think the value you more than they value me,” he
said, “and leave it at that. We’ll see what happens.”

He could see Quinna prepare to leave and he stopped her.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“I am going to lay down in your bed and sleep. I want to be ready and I
think I could sleep more with someone around.” Quinna said.

“I thought it would be harder to convince you to spend the night,” Michael
smiled again. “My bed is your bed,” he offered. “After all, how can I
seduce you to the dark side if you don’t spend the night with me”

“I see you have your arguments in place.” She said as she kicked off her
boots and sweater.

“Always,” he replied. He moved over to Quinna and swept her into his arms.
He backed her into his bedroom and kissed her gently. Then sat her on the
edge of the bed.

Quinna scooted back in the bed and turned so she has oriented herself so
when her head would hit the pillow. But she was still sitting up waiting
for Michael. “Are you coming?” She asked, waiting to lay down in his arms.

He sat on the edge of the bed and picked up Quinna’s hands. “When this is
all over,” he said, “and you’re still talking to me, there is nothing I
would like more. Good night Quinna.”

He kissed Quinna on the cheek, stood up, and turned off the light. He went
to the other room, picked up an armchair, and brought it into the room.
Sutton in the chair he put his feet on the bed.

“At least you can honestly say that we slept together in the same bed,” he
gave an evil smile and leaned back in the chair. He waited in that position
until she was asleep.

Disappointed as she was not to lay next to him, she did feel better enough
to sleep.
