(USS Illuminar -- Deck 2 - VIP Quarters -- SFI Michael Weston -- 0127)
Typically you know an op is going to plan when you wake up in your own room. First of all, waking up is already a good sign things are going to plan. Being in your own room is a bonus. However, if you are not alone, then you might be in a little trouble. If you have company that was not there before being in is ious remember rule 1; you woke up.
It didn’t take Michael long to realize he was not alone. However he had no idea who it was in his quarters, since it was completely dark. That was a good thing because if the lights were on the headache he was sporting might have made it difficult to focus.
“I understand that waking up from a Vulcan nerve pinch can cause a headache,” a voice said from the darkness.
“Voice of experience?” Michael asked “Well your sources are correct.”
“Then I’ll keep this brief,” the voice said. “You and your girlfriend caused quite a stir tonight.”
“Well we try to be entertaining,” Michael quipped.
“Be that as it may,” the voice went on, “we were curious. What were you going to show the good doctor?”
Weston knew he was going to have to play this one carefully. He knew if he revealed too much he could get caught in his lie.
“Let’s just say that I’ve come across some evidence left laying around that would not reflect well on the good captain,” Weston said.
“Like what?” the voice asked.
Weston paused for a moment as if thinking. Then he said, “Something that was on a PADD. That I found in a room. It hadn’t been his very well.”
“Idiot the voice said to itself. “I should have known. So what was with the show?”
“We needed to get your attention and that seemed the easiest and fa stead way,” Michael admitted.
“What’s the girl got to do with it?” The interrogation continued.
“She’s got the password,” he said, “and she won’t tell it to me.”
“Hmmmm,” so why do we need you?”
“She may have the key,” he said, “but I have the PADD.”
“An interesting dilemma. We have to consider our next move. We’ll be in touch.”
“Wait,” Michael called out but he knew the owner of the voice was already gone.
“Damn it,” he said harshly to himself. Then he called out. “Lights.” And the lights to his quarters came on. The room, of course was empty.
Swinging his legs around he got off the bed and made his way to the replicator. He got a glass of ice water then went into the living area. He saw the time and figures Quinna would either be asleep or dead. He went to his computer console and sent a message to the doctor. Hopefully she checked her messages early. He left it simple.
“See me as soon as possible.” Then he tapped the send message key. Now all he had to do is wait.
