Day: 7
Stardate:2446.02.07
(USS Illuminar-- Deck 1 -- Bridge -- CO -- Captain Sekal -- 1250)
"Settling into geosynchronous orbit Captain." The helmsman Tempest Grey
Wolf called out and without a doubt a part of their target lay immense on
the main viewscreen with a vivid pattern of green, blue and brown with many
shades of the former noteworthy. The white of the extensive northern polar
ice cap was also visible near the upper edge of the screen. Regulus was a
temperate world, class M and far milder than many Federation worlds such as
the Trill Homeworld and Vulcan.
This benefitted the natives immensely since they had body fur with a mean
temperature slightly below that of Earth. Reguluns were known by another
name, Caitians. The main sequence star was called Alpha Leonis and the
planet had changed hands on a number of occasions which was unsurprising
since it was only 79 light years from Sector 001.
The Klingons had themselves held it at one point though it had also been
used as an Andorian staging point against Vulcan before the Federation was
established. The Caitian homeworld was currently non-aligned though it had
a Federation base upon it which maintained a diplomatic presence and since
the start of the Fleet expansion the number of personnel there had more
than doubled. The Caitians were extremely civilized and watched this with
interest. Whether they might intend to rejoin the alliance in the future
was open to question.
The species itself was hermaphroditic meaning there were not multiple
genders but each being had the capability of being both egg provider and
sperm donor. A singular species to be certain.
The destination of those on board was the Federation base. There they would
be incarcerated and interrogated in the case of the marauders or treated
and sent back home. Unfortunately there were many more of the former than
the latter.
"Commander Jaris requesting ba communication sir."
"On screen." He intoned.
Commander Emile Jaris was human, of moderate height and build with a thin
face, dark hair and green eyes. He was sitting at a desk in some office on
the base. "Captain welcome to Regulus, you have been expected."
Sekal gave a faint nod. "Peace and long life Commander. The survivors will
be transporting down in 2 hours and the prisoners after them."
"Of course. I will see to the disposition of the survivors personally and
after that will turn my attention to the pirates. I'll forward them in a
transport ship to Earth after they've been shown my hospitality and
answered some questions."
"The survivors?"
"No the prisoners, the word hospitality in this case was sarcasm. I will
make arrangements for the safe transport of the survivors immediately."
"Understood. You will be notified when they are ready to be transported
down. Illuminar out."
