(Vulcan - Hospital ER - Counselor Ensign jg Reea - 1702)

While the doctors were working on Shola, Reea paced the corridor. She had been shown a place to wait, but she was so worried, she couldn't sit. She had tried several times to sneak into the ER, but someone always saw her and sent her back.

Feeling she had waited long enough, Reea quietly moved back through the hallway. Peeking around the corner, she was surprised to see only a nurse tending to Shola. One of the doctors was walking towards her.

"You are the person that helped the Andorian girl?"

"Yes. I'm Reea, one of the counselors on the Illuminar."

The doctor raised one of his eyebrows. "A Ferengi counselor? Fascinating."

Reea harrumphed.

"I am Doctor Torvek. The girl is going to recover."

"Her name is Shola."

"Yes."

There were a few seconds of silence. "Can you tell me what happened?" said Reea.

"Normally confidentiality would not permit me to tell you, but since you gave her emergency care, I believe it will be acceptable."

Get to it already! She wanted to grab the man and shake him.

"Shola was bitten by a starfly. They are not venomous and Andorians are not allergic to them, so this is an unusual circumstance. The logical conclusion is, that this was simply a rare and unfortunate incident."

Reea sighed with relief, a smile on her face. Before she could say anything, a loud commotion came from Shola's biobed. A nurse was escorting an Andorian woman into the room.

Reea and Torvek watched as the woman, presumably Shola's mother, held her daughter, tears flowing.

Reea had never seen an Andorian cry. Actually, she had seen only a handful of them in her life. As long as things turned out well, that's all that mattered.

"In the twenty-seven years I have practiced medicine, I have never seen anyone perform a tracheotomy. I congratulate you for thinking of it. However, I recommend you practice, as your technique was less than ideal."

Reea wasn't angry at Torvek's comment. She wasn't exasperated. She just laughed.

"I will," said Reea. "Thank you, Doctor."

Shaking her head and smiling again, Reea headed back down the hall to tell T'Lov her friend was going to be fine.
