"I'm sorry for the discomfort but you can move now” Tate offered. "It will only take a moment to remove the sensors."

T’Mur shrugged while lying down, “I had not expected this to be comfortable. It was tolerable.”

She could feel the doctors hands deftly remove the sensor pads from her skin. The cool air hit the spots where the adhesive remained creating areas of goosebumps. As the first one pulled away it was followed by a jolting “clank” as she dropped it into a metal container. Most beings might not have noticed, but she was Vulcan, with acute hearing, and her nerves were already grating. The adhesive gel held well, and some of the sensors stretched her skin before they released their hold. Tate tried her best to be gentle. Once the last sensor was removed and her skin cleaned it was time to proceed.

"Now if you wouldn't mind lying on your back please?” Tate asked.

T’Mur couldn’t help herself and replied, “Would it matter if I did mind?”

She didn’t wait for the response. Rolling over on the small table was not as simple as it may have seemed, but she moved swiftly. The cold of the table hit her back as the slit in the gown opened. A rectangle descended from the ceiling and stopped just over her. She could feel her left arm start to move again, on its own volition.

"I'm going to need you to hold completely still for just a moment while your synaptic patterns are mapped,” Tate warned her. "Once this procedure is completed I'm cutting you loose for the day after I set your time for integration into the treatment suite tomorrow and ask you some questions. Before we start how are you feeling?"

T’Mur nodded at first then thought about the question. Was she talking about her physical condition or her emotional well being. She wasn’t sure which. “I do not understand your question,” she replied.

"Because I'm a doctor and I'm concerned with the well being of my patient.” the doctor replied with a small smile. "That's a failing of us emotional species as I'm sure you are aware. The electromagnetic field won't cause any discomfort or disorientation during the test but you should take a moment to stabilize before getting up after it is concluded in case of any residual effects. Some vertigo has been noted in the past in the immediate aftermath so I want you to lay still for a couple of minutes before getting up. Agreed?”

T’Mur thought for a moment, contemplating the information and then began to monitor her own body sensations. “Agreed.”

T’Mur focused on the mechanicians of the probe and her hand steadied. There was a hum from the probe and she could sense the electromagnetic field penetrate her skin. Sure to her word the scan was not painful, but it she could clearly feel the tendrils of magnetism adjusting to her systems. It was very different from the medical scans she had received on the Illuminar and in her physical examination she received when she joined Starfleet. The sensation moved down towards her feet, and then it returned back to her head. It lingered at her head for a brief time. T’Mur had already lost track of the time, which bothered her. Then it stopped.

“Good,” Tate said breaking the sudden silence, "thank you for your patience. Doctor Solice and I are going to step outside for a moment while you relax. If you have any issues in getting up just buzz me, the button on your right will get me back in quickly. If there is no disorientation you can get up and get dressed. After you are done step outside and we will go to my office for that little talk."

T’Mur lay still and replied, “I am certain that I will … be fine.”

Tate and Solice stepped out of the room leaving T’Mur to reorient herself. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, letting her mind attend to every inch of her body. As soon as she had ascertained that her body was fully functional she swung her legs off the table and let the gown drop to the floor. There was a mild sense of disorientation that quickly passed. She walked over to where her uniform lay and leaned over quickly to pick it up. That was the moment where it all hit her.

First came a wave of nausea, followed by a wave of loss of balance. She tried to drop to her knee but it was too late and she fell to the floor landing on her shoulder. T’Mur could feel the sense of anger rise in her. She looked around knowing that no-one had seen her. Pushing herself back up into a seated position she dressed. Then pushed herself back to her feet. The next few minutes she spent walking around the room to reassert her equilibrium.

By the time the two doctors returned to the room she had been sitting, looking at the display from the scanner.
