Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25
(USS Exeter - Medical Sciences Lab - ACMO, Ensign Dural Methor DrPH - 1404)
Dural knew De Luca was going over some of the readings from the mysterious
nebula they found themselves parked outside of per Starfleet orders. It was
a nebula that he had heard of from his days as a medical technologist in
the Cardassian Military. The official word from Cardassian Science was
"nothing of interest", but then why was the sector restricted? When the
Cardassian Union joined the Federation, so too did its territory. Cardassia
Prime neglected to inform the Federation that something of interest was
here, so when the area was annexed the restriction was quietly removed.
Starfleet Command noticed.
He wondered quietly to himself, being the only public health specialist in
the sector oftentimes, why he wasn't consulted more often. The plague on
Trillus Prime? Theta Radiation on Bajor? He was able to respond to the
Vandalosian incident with the terrorist cell, but minor compared to some of
the others, he had to push himself into that one, both Commander Merek and
Lieutenant Williams would likely have tracked radiation all over the ship
had he not done so. He should have to remember to ensure he is on hand for
when the away mission returns so that he can aid in the recovery of the
miners.
He noticed a second form in the lab, not immediately recognizing whom it
was, he went to investigate. Dural turned the corner.
He heard a familiar voice, but he couldn't place it. After all, Cardassians
have sub standard aural perception. “Run it again, cross match it against
every change that you can see. Run it run it again, then rerun it. Decent
observations, now give me more depth. You say it’s not your field, but
we’re talking about a form of radiation, so it is, don’t look at a cell,
look at a bunch of atoms yes?”
De Luca returned the nod, and turned back to her station. “Ma’am.”
The female giving De Luca commands was lit up with Dural's infrared senses,
but only slightly, not brightly like a fever, he would describe it as
*glowing.*
"Is there anything I can help with?" Dural asked pleasantly.
(Reply Bracken, De Luca)
As Dural saw the non-De Luca female turn around he immediately recognized.
He smiled. "Commander? I had heard you were here, glad to see you, truly."
(Reply Bracken)
Dural glanced down with his courteous bow, and noticed a bump."Oh, my!"
That explains the glow I sensed. Ma'am you are with child!"
(Reply Bracken, De Luca, any Sickbay / Med Lab)

"There will always be those who mean to do us harm. To stop them, we risk
awakening the same evil within ourselves. Our first instinct is to seek
revenge when those we love are taken from us, but that's not who we are." -
