(USS Exeter – Secondary Security Office – Security Officer - Ensign –Arbor - 1137)
Arbor sat alone at the console in the secondary security office. It wasa backup for the primary security although a bit smaller. There was a brigattached which acted as an overflow in case the primary was full. He wasrunning secondary and tertiary diagnostics on the ships systems as well as monitoringprimary systems. He was on rotation and would be joined by someone from securityshortly which would be nice. He had scanned the reports which had mostly beenroutine. There had been an argument between crewmen about some disagreementwhich had been resolved when security had arrived. He did wonder if they werehere for too much longer that things might begin to get out of hand a members ofthe crew found more different and bizarre way to relieve the boredom. His consolebeeped as a signal come through and he looked at it.
~That’s odd~
It had been passed through the OPS department and was an external commsignal for him. He imputed his command authorisation into the console andwatched as the screen in front of him blink into life. He smiled as the image fuzzedinto life and he recognised the person looking out at him.
=^=Hay Treebeard how are you doing=^=
She had given him that name when they had first met. She had been part ofthe group of people that belonged to the Federation Archaeological Survey whichhad he had been attached to for a little while when he had been working for StarfleetRangers.
“Well Dr Jones have you been saving damsels in distress lately.”
He saw her smile flickers for a moment. One of the survey team had foundthe song from an old group about a woman trying to find Dr Jones and it had spreadthrough the team at warp speed.
=^=Good to know that you have still got a sense of humour Treebeard=^=
“It is getting better a little every day.”
He watched as her eyebrow crept up and hid a smile.
=^=I think that it may need a bit more practice=^=
“How are you doing I have not heard from you for a long while.”
There was a slight pause and he watched as her eyes darted off to theright before looking back.
=^=Yes, unfortunately I have been off looking at some amazing sitesdating back to around Tkon Empire and the Iconian Civilisation=^=
He watched as her eyes flashed with excitement.
=^=Every time we think that we learn something new it just gives us moreand more question=^=
She paused herself and gave an embarrassed smile.
=^=You don’t need to hear from it now. What I am calling about is that Imight have found it=^=
He frowned knowing that she had been chasing a few ancient artifacts overthe years.
“Found what?”
She grinned at him.
=^=The lost Briori ship of course=^=
He tried to keep the sigh from his voice.
“The Briori ship. You know that ever since that mission report from Voyagergot declassified you have been saying that humans had been abducted from earth bythe Briori later then 1937.”
She gave him a look.
=^=Of course it could still happen and why would they stop at 1937 itnever made any sense to me if they were using human as slave labour then theywould have carried on doing it=^=
He gave her a polite smile. This had been a rehashed conversation overthe years during many false leads and dead ends, but he could see that thistime it was different.
“You know that you have been down this road before?”
=^=Yes, I know but this time I have it. I just need some information aboutthe area where it might be=^=
“Where do you think it might be?”
=^=I need information about the area around the Iccobar system=^=
He frowned at her.
“That’s very close to Klingon space. If I am correct, they see it astheir territory and what would the ship be doing in that direction anyway as itis wrong way from the delta quadrant.”
=^=Yes I know all this which iswhat I hope to find out when I find the ship but I just need some up to date informationand I thought that you could look it up on your database and give it to me=^=
“You know I can’t do that. I would be breaking a lot of regulations andI would get into a lot of trouble doing so.”
=^=Come on Treebread. I am so close to finding the ship after all theseyears I need your help=^=
He thought for a moment and then nodded.
“Look the information that we have on that area is old and will probablynot be any use to you anyway but an old friend of mine in the Rangers called FatimaRoculs and she is working on Zibal system. She will have more up to date informationthen I do.”
She grinned at him.
=^=Thank you Treebeard I ow you=^=
“Well don’t go getting yourself killed.”
=^=You know me, gotta go thanks=^=
With that the connection cut and the screen went blank. He started at itfor a few moments then sighed and went back to the reports.
~Ow yes, I do~
