"I am the captain's yeoman. And normally Layla is pretty good about not being a, well both literal and figurative bitch. But as part of my adminstrative duties its just taking her on walks, little things. As a way to allow the captain to well, be the captain.”

“Hmm… I see.” Braeden said, stroking his chin. “Captaining is a full time job. It could be hard to take care of the family dog without help.”

"The thing is, she isn't a bad dog. I just think....that she views me as threat....maybe not a threat, but like a barrier between her and her family.”

“A threat?” Braeden asked, somewhat surprised.

"I don't know, does that even make sense.”

“Well, I’m not a canine counselor. I generally work with rational beings.” He said with a smile. “But what you’re saying makes sense to me.”

“Dogs are impulsive. They don’t think like we do. They wear everything on their sleeve, so to speak. That makes it easy to care for them, if you can read the signs. This sounds to me like something you need to take up with the Captain. Have you had a chance to tell him what happened with Shark and your suspicions about Layla’s behavior?”
