“None medical that you don’t know about. The dextrocardia isn’t a problem, no recent illnesses.” She smiled gently. “The elephant in the room…”

Heinrich looked at Ailynn’s belly. “Your pregnancy?”

“I was actually meaning my presence here as a Medical Commander, sent by the Fleet Surgeon General, but to be fair you had a fifty fifty chance and I’m cheating and being naughty.” She winked playfully. “I’m not here to oust you, or overrule you in any way. You remain in complete medical control of the souls of this vessel. Should I tread on your toes, you have my permission to tell me to back off.” She shrugged. “Felt it best to rip that plaster off and move on.”

He felt a little embarrassed by his presumption, but at the same time relieved that she cleared the air. “Well, thank you for that. I’m looking forward to your help and support.”
