Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25
(USS Exeter - Starlight Lounge - Ensign Rylee Page - 0632)
“Perhaps you would benefit from a stint in the core. No excitement in
there. Still, good work although i find myself in need of a serious work
out, having to crawl through Jeffries tubes pretty much every day for the
last few days.”
"We've all paid our dues. But count your lucky stars that we haven't been
under the threat of torpedoes while you were in the Jeffries tube."
Santiago replied.
“So, do tell me of the excitement going on on the bridge at this unhealthy
hour of the morning?” Rylee asked, taking a sip of her tea.
"Pues no se, I haven't made it to the bridge this morning. Shift doesn't
start until 0800. I'm just here drinking my cafe con leche, looking at
the beauty of space before I spend all day at a console making sure that
the power flow goes here, the scanner flow goes there, and quien lo sabe,
what I wouldn't do to go scanning for some life forms, those tiny little
life forms, those precious little life forms. Pero no, if there is
excitement on the bridge, it means something went horribly, horribly wrong."
(reply Rylee)
"Tell me Rylee, since I have time to kill, are you happy being a floater in
ops, crawling through a jeffries tube on day, working at desk for 3,
recalibrating a shuttle after that? Or would you rather something else? Is
this what you hoped for your career? What does Rylee Page want to do with
her life? What makes Rylee tick?"
