Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 1

Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Exeter - Deck 7- Sick Bay- CMO Lt. SG Heinrich Kruze -0941)

The downtime was getting to Heinrich. He had kept himself going the past few months by diving head first into his work and not coming up for air. But this science mission gave him precious little opportunity to get lost in his work. There were no medical emergencies because there was no danger. All he had were regular checkups, maintenance, and document retention. As far as those matters were concerned his staff was more than capable of handling it all.

So he had resorted to doing some staff evaluations. “All seems in order, Joy. Your detail in composing chart notes is particularly notable. I give you exemplary marks.”

“Thank you.” The grateful nurse said.

“You can have the rest of the day to yourself. Dismissed.” Heinrich turned to his PADD as the nurse walked out and Tyrek walked in, taking a seat.

"I am looking for every excuse to not be on the bridge. It's overrun with blue uniforms, no offense." Tyrek said, pointing at Heinrich's uniform.

Heinrich looked up from the PADD with a smile. “None taken.”

"All this nebula research we are doing could be easily done with a network of class four probes, but anyway, that's not why I'm here." Tyrek said. “We haven't celebrated my full transition into starfleet or our promotions." Tyrek mentioned.

“No, no I suppose we haven’t.” Heinrich said. Tyrek had a way of getting him off guard, and making him open up. As much as he enjoyed Tyrek’s friendship, he did, at times, do his best to avoid such celebrations.

"There is this succulent temptress named Selma working at the Starlight lounge." Tyrek lowered his voice. “She makes Trixie Bell look like a ferengi beauty queen and Rumor is she has a thing for Doctor's and according to a very credible source she has mentioned you a few times.”

“Oh, you don’t say?” Heinrich said with a chuckle.

"I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but it wouldn't hurt to get out and have some fun. Especially after all the work you've been putting in."

“Hmm…” Heinrich had nothing scheduled, and certainly nothing that required his immediate attention. And perhaps Tyrek was right, maybe he did need to have a little fun once in awhile.

“You know what,” he said, “I’ll take that offer. Yes.”

(Reply Tyrek)

Heinrich stood up. “Nothing has happened so far, and I don’t anticipate anything will happen today. I think I’ll take the day off.”

(Reply Tyrek)

“Let’s be on our way.”

(Reply Tyrek)
