Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

(USS Exeter - Chief Operations Officer's Office - CO, Captain Trip Williams
- 0700)

Trip had been making the rounds, walking around the Exeter, and trying to
keep himself entertained. The Armstrong would be arriving within the hour
carrying a very special VIP and Trip wanted to make sure that everything
was in order. Especially because he knew if even the slightest thing was
out of place he would hear about it.

As he made his rounds he passed by the office of his COO, Lieutenant Junior
Grade Janice Hammefield. He wanted to check in with her, see how she was
doing. Of his senior staff, she was one of the ones he knew the least. He
felt a bit guilty for that.

"Sorry for the interruption lieutenant," Trip said as he entered her
office. "I was in the neighborhood so I thought I would stop in and say
hello."

"So how are we doing this fine morning? Everything good in the mystical,
magical land of OPS?"
