Mission: Space Was Cool Before It Mattered

Day: 2

Stardate: 2446.04.26

(USS Exeter - Trinity's quarters- CFO Lt(sg) Trinity Frost - 0831)

At the sound of the doorchime, Trinity lifted her head out from under the
soft blanket and sighed deeply. Her hair a flyaway mess of luxuriant auburn
contrasted against the ivory white of the pyjamas that she’d pretty much
decided that she wasn’t getting changed out of today, sipping at the water
that was on the table in front of her, she then lifted painfully up from
the couch, she’d given up trying to sleep in bed hours ago.

“Who is it?” She called, knowing that her guest list was remarkably short.

" It's me." Ethan’s voice came through the channel, and her tired face
cracked into a half smile.

“Come in.” She replied, knowing that she looked an utter mess, but
smoothing the wrinkles out of her PJ’s, she looked over to the door.

As Ethan walked in, she regretted not dashing into her room and at least
brushing her hair, she hated looking scruffy when she saw him.

" Good morning " He handed over a coffee, her favourite ‘cheat morning’
pickmeup by the smell of it. Smiling wanely she sat back down on the couch.

" Went to 'Bean Me Up' and got you this. Figured you haven't had any yet."
He said and sat it on the table next to where she was sitting.

“It’s so sweet of you thank you.” She leaned over and kissed his cheek.
“Sorry I look a mess, been up half the night.”

" You didn't sleep ?" He asked rhetorically.

Shaking her head, she shifted in her seat, curling her bare feet under
herself. “Not a wink.” She sipped at the coffee, the sickly-sweet blend of
strong strong coffee, rich syrup and hazelnut assaulting her nose and the
hit of the caffeine and sugar doing for her at least in part what a nights
sleep could not.

" I kinda figured as much, truth be told I didn't either. Instead I had a
staring contest with Cog , F.Y.I. he won." Ethan said to break-the tension.

Trinity laughed gently, “You need to pick a fight you can win; pretty sure
he doesn’t have eyelids.” Sipping once more at her coffee, she wrapped her
hands round the large mug and sighed deeply leaning into her boyfriend.

“When he chatted to me in the cockpit, things he said made me reevaluate my
whole being. Have I been such an unfeeling Ice Queen that I only focussed
on my own feelings?”

(Reply Ethan)

“In my head I left because of his oppression, and that’s kinda true, but
not once did I think about what his reasons where, I just assumed he was
abusive you know? The realisation that he was hurting as much as me was a
kicker.” She felt his arm around her, the pleasant, understated strength
about his arms.
