Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 2

Stardate: 2446.04.26

(USS Tom Kazansky - Shuttle Bay 1 - SO Lieutenant T'Gema Vaxis - 0510)

"Depends on the day. Starfleet is still Starfleet and the chairs are still
comfy as hell." T'Rix sighed. "I think you illustrated my point however.
The path to true union isn't the mythical Ni'Var. It's as part of the
greater whole, as part of the Federation. Numerous member worlds, numerous
species. Yet none asked to give up their identity, their culture, their
being. Unity in diversity. The Empire nearly brought the alpha quadrant to
heel, yes. But it never could. Have you ever wondered why?" T'Rix asked.

" I haven't dwelled too much on it, my mother on the other hand can
essentially give lectures on the subject. " T'Gema replied.

"Have you ever wondered that perhaps our ways are what caused our downfall
from the very start? Had we not caused war with Earth centuries ago, would
the Federation even form. It was a united front against us that brought
Andor, Earth, Vulcan, and Tellar Prime together. Had we not been prideful,
egotistical, illogical, would the empire's greatest enemy just simply not
exist? A union of altruism and hope, duty and sacrifice, that even defended
their once enemies, the Klingons, to the point where the later part of the
last century, the quadrants where dominated by a Klingon and Federation
Alliance. That even against the Alpha Quadrant's greatest threat, the
Dominion, the only hope of victory was to join forces with those we called
enemy." T'Rix said.

" We certainly did a good job at uniting our enemies. Many of the elders
back home, former military, have a sense of pride that our enemies cried
out for our help in the Dominion war. " She crossed her arms.

" And all it took for us to join the fight was the death of one Romulan
Senator. "

"Reunification will fail, our people will never have the voice they
deserve, if we are outside the Federation. If the Republic were to apply
for membership, we'd have an equal voice, our culture would be protected,
we would not need to give up our way of life. It is the only logical step
forward." He explained

" The reunificationist currently run our government. However The Pro-Consul
seems less focused on reunification and more ambitious towards the path
that leads us to joining the Federation. I don't care what they decide to
do, I am pro Rihannsu no matter what. Whatever we have to do to survive. "
T'Gema said concluding her point.

( reply T'Rix)

" Did you know that The Exeter has two members of their command crew that
are children of Republic Senators ? " She asked.

( reply T'Rix)

" Senator Merek and Senator Na’Rel. Both of them having children serving on
the Exeter, the very ship being used as the platform of your integration
into their marine division…" T'Gema stepped closer to T'Rix and lowered her
voice.
" I wonder who made that decision." She said coldly.

( reply T'Rix)
