Mission: Space was cool before it mattered

Day: 1

Stardate: 2446.04.25

(USS Exeter - Main Science Lab - CSO Lieutenant Sg Erin Cortez - 1517)

Sat at her terminal, Erin was aware of the door to the lab opening and a
number of people walking through. It was easy enough to hear. The main
science lab was not usually a hive of activity so any noise out of place
was easily recognised.

“You have something Lieutenant?” a voice asked pleasantly.

Nodding, Erin smiled and said, "Yes we do. Take a look." Erin gestured to
her screen and glanced back at Parker with a wink.

"We have been looking at the data from the scans you have been running
overnight and found something interesting. "

(Reply De Luca)

"As you can see here.." Erin pointed, "... the radiation appears to be
cycling through a defined pattern. The radiation seems to rise to a peak of
3500 becquerel and then drop back down to 500 becquerel approximately every
6 hours."

(Reply De Luca)

"We have confirmed this. Mister Parker?"

(Reply Parker)

"Would you please explain how you have confirmed these findings."

(Reply Parker)

As he spoke, Erin stood back for a moment and watched. ~He's beginning to
grow. Not as angry and combative as he was.~ she thought to herself.

(Reply De Luca)

"So, as you can see, with this new information, you should be able to
time, almost to the minute, when to collect the maximum amount of radiation
for your medical purposes or just for further study."

(Reply De Luca)
