Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25
(USS Exeter - Holodeck 2 - FO Cmdr Alex Jones & CSO Lieutenant Erin Cortez
- 2017)
The evening passed, and Alex regretfully removed the skates and assisted
Erin with hers, before the two of them made their way back to the steps,
his hand wrapped around hers, though walking closer than previously.
It had been an amazing evening. One for the memories. Not just for the kiss
and the company but because, for the first time in a while, Erin had felt
safe and at peace with herself. Even now as they walked back through the
archway and out back onto the corridors of the ship, the fact that their
hands were intertwined and they were walking closer was not strange to her.
It felt right. The conversation flowed easily and the smiles were abundant.
She knew that they had walked past a couple of crew who had, undoubtedly
made their own conclusions as to what they were doing or had been doing
and, frankly, she didn't care.
After a moment, they entered a turbolift and Erin stood next to him, her
hand still entwined and she lay her head gently on his shoulder, "I can
honestly say that this has been the best first date I have had."
Erin’s closeness and her head on his shoulder made Alex’s heart jump from
the pit of his stomach to his throat and back again. “I can honestly say
it’s the most lovely evening I think I’ve ever had.” He looked at her, with
a blush and a smile.
Lifting her head off his shoulders as the doors of the turbolift opened,
Erin’s hand never left his as they both walked back out onto the corridor
and towards her quarters. For a moment, how the date was going to end
entered her mind. The thought of would he expect to be invited in or not
flew through her mind.
But, as much as she did not want the night to end, that was something that
she was not ready for just yet. So, as they approached her door, she smiled
gently at him, "Looks like this is me."
“Certainly is.” He said, “I’m glad you had a good evening. It’s been so
lovely.”
Erin smiled gently and nodded, "It really has."
Pulling away with a gentle smile, Alex reluctantly let go of Erin’s hand.
“I should let you get on and rest. Sleep well Erin.”
"Before you go, may I be so bold as to assume there would be a second date
in the future?"
Alex nodded gently, “I certainly hope so. The company has made tonight very
special.”
Grinning, Erin gripped his hand gently and said, "Well, I would like there
to be. This time, let me organise it. My surprise. "
“That will be terrific, I look forward to it.”
"All I can say is that it may not be as amazing as this night but it will
certainly be a good evening." She laughed softly and winked.
Squeezing her hand gently he winked back. “I’m sure it will be amazing, I
look forward to it.”
"Goodnight, Alex." She said, allowing herself a moments glance into his
eyes as she let go of his hand and walked into.her quarters.
He watched as she stepped through her door, and blushed at the memories of
the evening as the door closed.
As the door closed, Erin’s face betrayed her. The smile that had crept
across her face throughout the entire evening had not dissipated. As she
removed the small hat from her head and loosened her hair, letting it
cascade down her shoulders, she sighed, content and happy that the night
had gone extremely well and there was the promise of a second evening.
With a heavy sigh, though filled with happiness, he stepped down the
corridor, headed back to his quarters.
