Mission: Space was cool before it mattered
Day: 1
Stardate: 2446.04.25

(Mining Station - COO, LT Janice Hammerfield - 1511)

Janice looked up and moved over and paused the comm a second, “I though we were expecting signs of radiation poisoning? Shouldn’t they be showing some signs of exposure? I mean im no Doctor but with the time taken to get into this room from all over the station.. surely?”

Heinrich was also at a loss. “I can’t explain it. I don’t think they’d lie.”

“I’m not going to complain that they are ok – just a bit odd no?” she looked puzzled hoping the doctor would allay her concerns, “Can we pull a sample of the radiation back before we vent it out and store it safely back with us?”

“That’s a good idea.” He said, thinking a moment “I didn’t bring anything that can trap radiation. We could get a rock or something for study. But that’s too dangerous since we have no way to contain it. For my purposes, though, all I need is to register the signature of the radiation.” He took out his tricorder and scanned the air.

"Get some readings while we have some time,” she nodded towards him, “Might be worth getting it checked over once we get back to the ship. Anything unusual?”

“Science can take a look, but given my limited knowledge, I’m seeing nothing that would tell why they should be ok.” He shrugged. “Until I can look at them we might have to chalk this up as a miracle.”

"Im not one for leaving miracles unresolved. Let the L.T. know hes got some extra time to get things ready. Im sure he will appreciate knowing hes not on the clock.

As the other two began to talk she placed a hand over her stomach and clenched and relaxed the muscles trying to retain her composure along with a few other deep breaths.

=/\= Miller to Hammerfield, I fixed the cause of the issue. Any radiated games should be cleared in a few minutes. =/\=

"Go ahead,” she replied waiting by the door to the miners.

=/\= When the levels are good, proceed with the plan, get to the maintenance bay. I'll meet you there, Miller out =/\=

“Roger that see you there,”

As the other two talked Janice opened the comms to the miners, “We are almost ready to open the doors to get you out. Ill want you to follow Doctor Kruze to our exfil point.”

A man came on replying back, “We are all good in here – just glad to finally get out of here.”

“Remember slow movement and let momentum take you all through. We don’t need any casualties trying to get you out as well,” she knew they were well aware of that being miners but felt the need to remind them to temper their need to get out of the room.

Janice looked back at Kruze, “We good to go?”

(reply Kruze)

With a nod she went back to the comms, “Here we go – standby for depressurisation then we will open the doors,”

“We are ready,” replied the same man as before.

Typing some commands slowly into the panel she commenced the depressurisation sequence and watched until the gauge monitoring it reached zero. Next she pulled a panel off of the door and pulled an emergency release lever. Cranking it a few times the door split and started to part open enough for everyone to start feeding out.

“Take point,” she nodded to Kruze and she helped everyone move through the opened door.

(reply Kruze)

As the last person exited Janice retrieved her tricorder from the door and took a look in the room flashing her suit lights all through the room to make sure no one was left behind.

“Hammerfield to Miller – Rooms clear, we are en route to you. Get ready for our arrival and make sure Cheron is ready to start bringing everyone onboard,”

(reply Miller)

“Roger – Hammerfield out,” she looked to everyone moving off and quickly closed her eyes and took a deep breath before starting to talk to herself, “Well – lets get the hell out of here now.”

(reply Miller, Kruze)
