(USS Exeter – Deck 5, Corridor – CSO Lieutenant Erin Cortez – 0526)
“Okay.” Keira popped the tricorder open, and began scanning. She compared
the results with the earlier ones, and no match. She nodded and then turned
the tricorder on herself and gave it three long slow passes and presented
the tricorder to Erin.
Taking it from her, Erin glanced down. No similarities.
“Satisfied?” Keira asked. Letting the hatch swing wide.
"Yeah. " Erin said, still a little wary. A feeling in the back of her mind.
Something not hers was urging caution
“We get down to the right deck and I hang back. You verify and speak to
Ailynn, and call for me and then I approach.” Keira said going over the
plan again. “If Ailynn is playing the long con you’ll let me know, then I
take off to enact plan Charlie. Cause as much Chaos as I can.”
"You mean like your distraction?"
“Our distraction, almost forgot.” She reached over to a nearby panel and
executed the worm start command.
"You never told me what it was. Keeping things close to your chest again?"
Erin remarked.
“I started the selection with loud first. “Long Tall Sally” by Little
Richard. Then as songs are played they progress to more and more annoying.
Ending with a pre-war boy band called Hanson named after three brothers
that were in the band. The song is called “MMM Bop” I used it on one of
Ravok’s Flight Officers who made fun of our dance in the Red Sands.” Keira
explained. “After one hour of that it’s static, various alarms and warbles.
Also consoles, doors and turbolifts will start malfunctioning long before
that.”
"Remind me never to get in a prank war with you then." Erin winked.
“Sometimes I access the Romulan side of my nature, I can be quite devious,
let’s go.” Keira said following Erin into the Jefferies tube and closed the
hatch behind them.
As they began their decent, Erin sighed. This was not the most expected
turn of events and she was seeing sixes of the ship and the crew that she
hadn't expected nor wanted to see.
After a few moments, Erin stopped as they reached Deck 7. Climbing forward,
she put a hand on the hatch cover and stopped, "Keira, I'm sorry for
doubting you."

"I know. This whole situation is just… crazy."
(Reply Merek)
"Look, Commander Bracken is about thirty feet down this corridor. Hang
here, let me go check her out. Safety first, I mean, First Officer is
strategically more important than the CSO. Only right."
(Reply Merek)
"Keira, I can handle Ailynn. She's tough but I got some tricks. I'll be
fine. Now stay." Erin smiled as she climbed out of the hatch and looked
back, "I'll call you. Directly. Give me ten minutes."
(Reply Merek)
Nodding, Erin closed the hatch and sighed, ~here we go~.
