(USS Exeter – Maintenance shaft under Main Engineering - ACEO Lt. JG
Brightwood – 0450)

It was a good thing that Alistair didn't mind cramped spaces, because based
off of what he was hearing above him, he might be in the tunnels for a good
while. The tunnel was a small one, slightly smaller than a jeffrey tube. It
was embedded under the floor and was placed in as part of the design for
easy access in and out of engineering to other maintenance corridors as
well as an emergency exit as needed. It was almost a secret tunnel as it
wasn't used much, but Alistair had sort of coopted it to be his secret
getaway at the end of a shift if we was pressed for time and didn't want to
get roped into work. Of course his current adventure in the tunnel started
when he saw a bunch of armed officers make there way to engineering, and
muttering words about taking control. Now Alistair wasn't a coward, but he
also knew his best bet was hiding and watching, waiting to see what
happened. He listened as much as he could and got to a point where he knew
he needed to do something. He crawled along until he could hear the voice
of Lt. Hammerfield directly above him and took a deep breath.

With a quick pull and then a push, the latch to the tunnel opened and he
was staring up directly at Lt. Hammerfield.

"Janice," he said his posh Oxford accent. "Quickly, down into the tunnels,
we got to go while we still can."

"Looking to the side he saw Rylee also trapped behind a separate
forcefield. "I'm sorry Ensign," he sighed, But there is no latch underneath
your feet, you're trapped and I can't get to you."

Brightwood looked back at Hammerfield. "Seriously Janice, we've got to get
the hell out of here."
