(USS Exeter -Muskogee- Cockpit - aACMO Ensign SG Heinrich Kruze - 0357)

"What we believe to be a distress call. A voice from the unknown. Whoever or whatever it is we soon find out.” Ravok said. Heinrich sat down in the Muskogee cockpit with the rest of the crew. At this point he mainly wanted to keep to himself. The long night had begun to wear on him. Without medical emergencies pumping his adrenaline he was one again lost to his thoughts. A vague yet encompassing sense of dread took hold of him as his mind returned to his experience standing before Judge Bean — standing before Trinity Frost. He was made to put his darkest secret to words. Through Trinity’s pain Bean forced his confession from his lips, commanded his tongue. It felt so strange that no one else seemed to know. But, he knew, any given person could know.

"Course laid in commander and we are at warp. What is the game plan?" Ronnie asked. Heinrich looked back up and looked to Ravok to get his orders.

"Upon our approach of the distress call. We will do the standard orbital sensor sweep of the planet of origin. Survey the landscape and pinpoint any potential threats and rule out any chances of violating the prime directive. Once the planet survey is complete we will find a safe landing spot a safe distance away from the source of the alien communication. Being that this is a first contact situation, everyone on this shuttle is now acting in the capacity of an ambassador.” Ravok was saying.

The enormity of the mission began to hit him. These are the sorts of missions most officers join Starfleet to undertake. Explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and all that. But in that moment he didn’t think he was worth being an ambassador for the Federation. Though, at least, there was no way they could possibly know.

"Attempts at communicating might prove to be difficult but nonetheless we shall render our services to the best of abilities. Hopefully kindness is a universal language .Whatever craft we find we will try to salvage it as much as possible , perhaps even see if we can have an engineering crew come here and make repairs."

Heinrich nodded. “That's the official plan. The one starfleet would expect me to tell you.The off the books plan or the game plan as you put it Lieutenant is to not do anything to get ourselves killed.”

The dry levity was exactly what he needed in that situation. Heinrich smiled slightly and said, “I certainly have no intentions of dying today. And I don’t intend for anyone else to die either.”
