Stardate: 2446.01.03

(USS Exeter –Brocken Bow – Cockpit- COO LTjg Paul Sleeford 04:10)

Paul’s fingers danced over the panel as he tried to break the tractor beam lock,the usual method of a feed back loop had failed, if anything it had increased power to the beam hearing the phasers firing and T’Kel mentioning the fact of their proximity to the object for torpedos to be used, as the phasers where fired again Paul thought he’d heard a slight break in T’Kels voice.
 
" Brace yourselves " 

Grabbing power from where he could, replicator system, transporters, unused crew rooms, even the bridge lighting, he threw everything into the SIF/IDF systems to keep their bodies intact.

As Ire threw the small craft through a series of climbs and dives, twists and turns Paul could see the reputation was based on facts not bar  room talk.

The runabout shook and shuddered as explosive blast hit it from the rear, throwing them forward, sideways and every-which way. As the shuddering subsided Paul ran a quick diagnostic check, the ship seemed to be in good shape, scratches and dents but no breaches.

" Target eliminated ." T'Kel said with a sigh of relief but quickly regained his Vulcan composure. 

“Sleeford, take the helm, set a course for the Exeter and see if you can get them on the comms for an update of what’s happened.”
 “Understood Lieutenant” 
“Scan the debris if there is anything remaining I want to get a sample that we can take back.”
 Nodding Paul ran a scan of the field, bringing the transporter system back online, grabbing a largish price he locked on and transported it to the cargo bay. Opening the comms panel he tried to raise the Exeter.

Running a diagnostic on comms in case they’d been damaged in the explosion, finding nothing wrong he tried again.

“This is Sleeford, I’m invoking lost comms protocol. Can’t raise the Exeter from here.”
