(USS Exeter - Deck 11 - Main Engineering – ACEO Janice Hammerfield- 0435)



" I need the acting Chief Engineer Lieutenant Hammerfield to come forward. Now"



Janice was to the back of engineering and was about to come out until the phaser fire started up. Thinking quickly she jumped onto a console to put a force field around her and the warp core to protect it from any stray blasts. Then pointing to the Jeffries tube beside her she motioned for the couple near her to get out. Once they were gone she sealed it from her console and shouted "over here!"

She knew the field wouldn't keep people off her for long and she continued to type attempting to lock out system after system. Some she could get to others were already done by someone else. She didn't have time to check who and moved onto the next one. As the phaser fire died down she could hear some footsteps approach behind her as she kept typing. Without turning round she kept working at the console, "anyone care to explain why there are phasers being fired in my engineering..."  Her gaze glanced over to a weapons locker beside her.in haste she neglected to pick one up and it now sat out of reach away from her.
