(Toronto, Canada - St Michaels Hospital - CSO Lt Erin Cortez/Genevieve
Rhodes & Doctor Lindsay Devereaux - 1215)

Lindsay downloaded the next patient chart to her tablet. Her bottle red
hair pulled back into a loose ponytail, she swept a stray lock away from
her face and adjusted her black rimmed glasses.

~ Genevieve Rhodes, what brings you to the ER today?~ The doctor thought to
herself as she reviewed the nursing triage note. ~Syncopal event at the
convention center. Patient unresponsive on arrival, vital signs within
normal limits, EKG shows sinus rhythm…~

"Show time." Lindsay whispered to herself and knocked on the exam room door.

Erin sighed deeply. After DJ's visit, she had wanted some time to herself.
To be honest she was hoping that she could escape the hospital and find
her way back to the apache had woken up in. Hoping against hope that Ravok
would be there.

"Miss Rhodes?" She said loud enough to be heard but not intrusive.

"Come in."

"Hello, I'm Doctor Devereaux." Lindsay said as she entered the room. Her
quick pace made her white lab coat flutter behind her like a cape from the
superhero comics she used to read as a kid. Helping people always made her
feel like one. She closed the exam room door softly and sat down on a
wheeled stool in the room. "What brings you onto the emergency room today?"

"I passed out. Got a shock is all. When can I go home?"

"Come out swinging, huh?" Lindsay said. "I'll deal it to you straight, labs
haven't come back yet, all your other tests look good."

"That's something right?" Erin said, clinging onto the hope she could get
out of there quickly.

"...and you have the right to refuse further testing. When you came to us
you weren't exactly able to answer any questions." The redhead began.

"I was slightly out of it." Erin replied, truthfully. ~if only she knew how
much.~

"I wouldn't feel comfortable with you leaving just yet. Once the labs come
back, if they're nothing alarming, we'll hand you your release papers. I
want to be on the safe side and make sure there's nothing wrong first. Does
that seem fair?" The doctor offered.

Erin nodded, "I suppose. I mean, I know a doctor and he would do exactly
the same although your bedside manner is a little less prickly."

"Good," Lindsay said, "now these questions might seem silly, but we have to
ask everyone."

~Oh… this could get bad.~ she thought to herself as she nodded.

"Do you know where you are, right now?"

"In the hospital. Because i passed out." Erin replied. ~one down.~

"Do you know what day it is?" Lindsay asked.

"As in date or actual day? 30th June."

"Either is fine," Lindsay said with a smile.

"Listen, I feel fine now. Have you gotten in touch with Rav…. Sorry, Kyle
yet?"

"Kyle?" The doctor asked

"I'll stay here because I need to but he must be concerned about me." Erin
sighed and found herself subconsciously twirling the ring on her finger.

~Concern...oh, wow look at that rock!~

"Kyle is your husband?" Lindsay asked.

"Fiancé. " Erin replied with a smile.

"Fiance," the doctor corrected. "Well, all your personal belongings are
still here in the room." The redhead reached underneath the bed and pulled
out a white bag with green lettering that said in English and French:
Patient Belongings.

"Oh good. Thankyou." Erin replied, taking the bag and having a quick look
inside.

"You can certainly call him yourself," she said with a smile.

~She seems really anxious to get out of here, is she alright?~ Lindsay
thought.

"I'm sure the lab results will be back soon," Doctor Devereaux assured her.
"One final question though, has anyone at home or work been abusing you or
taking advantage of you?"

Erin’s brow furrowed, "Abusing…. No… why would you ask that?"

"It's one of our standard questions, plus you seemed very anxious to get
out of here. Abusers are often controlling and I wanted to make sure
everything was alright." Lindsay explained.

"I don't like hospitals is all." Erin replied gently. ~or sickbay, spent
enough time in there I'll get a frequent visitor card soon.~ she thought to
herself.

"Understandable." Lindsay admitted. "How about I go check on those labs and
see what's the holdup?"

"Thankyou. Sorry for being… obtuse."

"Miss Rhodes, good chat. See you in a few." Lindsay said as she got up to
leave.

"Thankyou again, Doctor."
