(USS Exeter- deck 3- Merek/Shara shared quarters- 2O/CEO – Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek – 1947)

" Hey" Ravok greeted her walking into their shared quarters.

“Hey yourself,” she responded.

" How's your day been?" Ravok asked. He was beating around the bush as Ol’ Hal used to say. He usually did this when he had news.

~Testing the waters, seeing what kind of mood I’m in before delivering some kind of news. How very….Romulan.~

“It was deck seven’s turn on the rotational maintenance, so I spent most of it on deck seven. Truth be told, if Trip hadn’t insisted on an overhaul of the hologrid we probably still be ironing out the kinks in that now, but instead it’s back to routine maintenance. Typical day. I’m guessing you don’t want to talk about maintenance.” Keira said.

He grabbed his chair and slid it over to her and sat down. " I just got back from the surface a little while ago. I met with Captain Hart of the Lexington, the Exeters sister ship."

“I’m familiar with the Lexington. She has a layout very similar to ours. I put forth some suggestions when they started to build her. You didn’t talk about the Lexington’s ample nacelles?” Keira said joking.

" He spoke with Trip and not just as cousins but he spoke with him about me. " Ravok said with a sigh.

Her joking smile dropped, “What about you?”

" He offered me the chance to serve as his first officer. I have 48 hours to deliver him a decision." Ravok said, looking her in the eyes. She could tell he was nervous about what she would say how she would react.

“Well, what did you say? What are you leaning towards? Does he also have a spot for a Chief Engineer? I don’t want to leave the Exeter, but for you I would certainly consider it.” She said. She was speaking at a faster pace, like she usually did just before an emotional outburst.

(Reply Ravok)

“Trip won’t let me go?” She raised one eyebrow in a quizzical reaction. “Then the decision is yours and yours alone.”

(Reply Ravok)

“No, it is your decision,” she snapped. “Since I can’t go, I have no say in the matter.” She closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead, mostly in frustration. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said it like that.”

(Reply Ravok)

She frowned. “You want my opinion? I will miss you if you go, but I don’t want to hold you back. It’s your career and if I make you stay by saying it’s me or your career, it will ethaon {ND Romulan: poison} our relationship, no matter which one you choose, and that poison may be lethal enough for it never to recover.”

(Reply Ravok)

“Look into your kaevra {ND Romulan: heart} be true to yourself.” She said.

(Reply Ravok)

“If you leave, you should take Rayna, I’m keeping Venus.”

(Reply Ravok)
