(USS Exeter - Nine and Dine - Civilian Caity Dubois - 1407)

Standing behind the bar, the lunch time rush finally over, Caity allowed
herself a moment breathe. The events of the last few days were weighing
heavily on the crew and she could see it, feel it. It didn’t take an empath
to understand that the crew had gone through something that would haunt
them for a long time.

~They will pull through. They are a young crew but strong. The bonds of
friendship that come with a shared trauma will get them through.~ she
thought to herself. Then it hit her, a single word that had been used by
her uncle to describe her one night when she had hit a particularly bad
moment just after she had arrived on Mars.

He had looked at her tear stained eyes and said to her, “Caity, you are
resilient. More so than you realise.” And he had been right. Sara would
have said the same to her. No matter what had come her way, Caity had
always worked it through and done so with a force of will that was not
matched by anyone she had ever met. Until now.

Smiling, as the thought of Ailynn entered her mind, she knew that in her
she had found an equal. Beautiful and clever in a different way to her but
with a force in her that she didn’t realise. Resilience. Whatever life
threw her way, however dark and hard things got, one thing Caity could be
sure of. ~Life finds a way.~
