(USS Exeter – Emergency Transporter Room 2 – 2O/CEO – Lt. Cmdr. Keira Merek – 0115)
It had been a few minutes since she had transported the team to the holodeck, but it seemed like hours. Sensors had confirmed the transport inhibitor had been deactivated shortly after team had beamed in, but she kept the transporter lock on them, and the survivors, just in case. She used a side panel to check the operational status of the Holodeck and that too, had been deactivated. Perhaps some auto switch once she no longer had the upper hand? What a coward. Keira mused on whether she had some kind of kill switch to take herself out in that event as well. Some sort of poison tooth that she bit on to release a potent and very toxic quick acting poison, like in the spy novels that Mr. Jordan had lying around his house.
Her next task had been to ensure that site-to-site transport was back up and trap free. A level two diagnostic after the standard start up sequence had confirmed no additional programing was present in any transport subroutines. If that was because of her initial intrusion countermeasures program, or the original author’s self-righteous suicide, Keira didn’t know. What she did know is that the systems were up and running again.
“Merek to Bracken.” Keira opened a channel.
(Reply Bracken)
“Our transporters are now fully operational, and clean of any stowaway sub-routines. Site-to-site is now at your disposal. I have locks on everyone in the room.” Keira reported.
(Reply Bracken)
“Negative, but you are busy, I’ll inform the Captain. I just thought you’d need the information first, if there are any casualties.”
(Reply Bracken)
“I will, Merek out,” she said closing the channel only to open another. “Merek to Captain Williams.”
(Reply Trip)
“Just calling to report we have full transporter capability. The XO is already aware of this fact. I have full transporter locks on everyone in the holodeck waiting for the Commander’s order.”
(Reply Trip)
“It will take some more digging to be sure exactly what happened. It could be my subroutine that burned them out, could be the kill switch she seemed to install once it all ended in there. That is a task for another time, however. I’m just glad that we have them back.”
(Reply Trip, any)

“The only way to defeat fear is to tell it 'No'." No - we will not take shortcuts on the path to righteousness. No - we will not break the rules that protect us from our basest instincts. No - we will not allow desperation to destroy moral authority.” - Michael Burnham, Star Trek: Discovery
“No, I’m from Iowa, I only work in outer space.” – Adm. James T. Kirk, “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”
