Maxine smiled again, as Lieutenant Cortez lay on the floor, from where she
was Lana was unable to see the seriousness of her injuries, if at all she
was still alive, she was held too firmly in place in her stasis bonds.
"Lana, I believe its your time to say truth. Hopefully you learned from
Stan's lesson. The more you defy, the more of your crewmates die"
Lana sighed, her eyes tightening slightly in thought. She’d seen where
defiance and refusal had got everyone. “What is it you want me to say? Talk
to you about my tortured childhood, how dreadful my mother was?”
(reply Maxine)
“Well, Maxine. I’m sorry to disappoint you, my mother tried her best, she
didn’t always make the best decision, didn’t always get it right; but she
was there. At least she was until I got older, then...things went south a
touch, didn’t approve of the way I approached things that I’d worked on.” A
tear escaped the grip of her left eye. “We parted on bad terms. That’s all
you need to know.”
(Reply Maxine)
“DAMMIT...I tried everything, I pushed myself and all I got was open
criticism. Did she love me? As a small child yes, later, toward the end,
no.” Her voice fell to a whisper as more tears ran down her cheeks. “No she
didn’t. Quite the opposite.”
(Reply Maxine, any captured)
