“What wehave is an indescribably difficult job. The signal is scrambled, perhapsthrough a modulator of some kind. Skipper thinks that you and I might have theskillset to make a dent in this.”

 

“Okay.”

 

“Computer.Play sample Bracken omega one. Command authorisation Bracken-six-delta-twelve.”

A somewhatdisjointed sample then played through the speakers, a seemingly random jumbleof words.

 

“It isn’tmuch, but we’re under a lot of levels of security.”

“Do you mindplaying it again.”

 

He closedhis eyes as he tried to tune out all the other sounds in the room apart fromthe recording.
