NRPG: Sent over four posts, because Mark and I wrote 16 pages and it made
more sense to break it up then force everyone to have to read that many
pages in one go.

(Earth- Home of Trip and Ashlyn Williams- CO, Captain Trip Williams, and
FO, Commander Ailynn Bracken - 2015)
“I’m…Scared Trip.” She sighed, opening up to one of the few people that she
knew she could. “About a great many things.”
“Parenthood is the true great unknown.”
“That doesn’t scare me actually.” She said gently. “Caity is with me all
the way, I love her. It’s other things”
“So what are your fears, Ailys?”
Ailynn shrugged. “Losing all you guys. My ship, My friends. I have no idea
if you’re coming back, and I can’t be around and tip the balance this time,
not like I did with Jost, or Maxine, or the Empress.”
“Guess its time for me to learn to do things on my own, huh?”
Ailynn laughed. "Yep. You need tofind someone else stupid enough to laugh
in deaths face."
"probably Ire." trip said with a smirk.
She sighed. "This isn't goodbye. Bloody feels like it but it isn't." She
smiled sadly. "Going to mean that someone else will have to deliver your
son."
"Well that's not entirely true. Ash could pop at any moment."
"True." Ailynn smiled and sighed. "I will be back you know? Can't keep me
down for long."
“I know, its just a matter if our reunion is 6 months or 6 years.” Trip
said somberly.
"Hopefully not 6 years, it depends on what StratOps have in store, or mum
even. Maybe they'll make me a Commodore to keep me from making any more
trouble." She laughed, horrified at the thought.
“Who knows, your mom might use this to get you into Starfleet Medical and
never let you go.”
"Perhaps. She wouldn't do it actively though, we had long chats too. Made
friends, we're closer now than ever. It's lovely. I think the prospect of
me expecting has brought us together."
“So have you thought of a name?”
"I'm working on it. Caity and I still have long conversations, and I want
her involved in our lives. I appreciate that's having your cake and eating
it, but I think we can make it work. Decisions to be made together you
know?"
“I hope it works out. I do. This kinda, thing, can cause a lot of stress in
relationships. Especially when you’re having some weird alternate pocket
dimension love child.”
"You really can take the romance out of anything can't you." Ailynn laughed.
“It’s a gift, and a curse.”
"It'll work, I think that if it was going to go wrong it would already have
done so."
~I hope you’re right,~ Trip thought to himself. ~I really hope you’re
right.~
Trip smiled. “Whatever happens, you know Ash and I are here to support you,
no matter what.”
"I know, and that means more than you'll ever know. So are you ready for
your life to get even more complicated?"
“You mean Drew? Or are you privy to some orders I haven’t gotten yet?” Trip
said with a laugh/
Laughing Ailynn shook her head. "If I knew anything I'd tell you straight
away you know that. No you dingbat I meant your son."
“Honestly, after everything we’ve been through, a newborn should be easy
right. I mean we went to a different galaxy, a different dimension. I dealt
with a transdimensional omnipotent being crushing hard on me. I think a
newborn seems so much easier.”
"Confidence. Always good."
“But I’ll take notes for ya.”
"I appreciate that. Not going to lie, the thought worries me more than
facing Jost."
“Yeah, but when has Ailynn Leola Bracken ever backed down from a challenge?”
"You know me too well. Never pass up a challenge."
“I mean weirdly enough, Quella gave you an unintend gift. A blessing. One
that takes your anxiety to an 11, but in all her machinations, somehow,
well, I guess it kinda makes Toronto worth it.”
"Yeah. I silver linings. I never ruled out being a mum, hadn't figured that
part of my life out.”
“So with Ash being half bajoran, they had her gestation somewhere in
between the Bajoran 5 months and the Human 9 months. But you’re only one
fourth Bajoran. Any prognosis on how long until James or Jamie Bracken is
born.” Trip said with a wink.
"My Bajoran DNA complicates things. Vascularisation is much higher, it
could be 6 months-ish like Ash, or just a bit shorter than a regular Human."
“Yeah, who knows, the next time I see you we can organize baby races.” Trip
said, not wanting to bring up the possibility the child would inherit
Ailynn’s dextrocardia.
"That's not fair Drew has a head start." Ailynn objected, chuckling.
“Yeah, well we can blindfold him.” Trip said with a laugh. He was not going
to blindfold a baby.
Ailynn smiled at the thought of three babies having a blindfolded race.
Thankfully, she managed to push the ridiculous image out of her mind, with
the assistance of the smell of the food."Food ready yet? Two hungry
pregnant Bracken girls here." She gigged and leant on his shoulder. An odd
gesture for a First Officer and a Captain, but Ailynn and Trip had known
each other a very long time.
Trip looked over at the panel that scanned the internal temperature of the
meats. “Yeah, Yeah, I think we’re good. Guess it's time to ring the dinner
bell, for reals this time.”
"Let's go, this smells amazing."
