Mission: A new day dawns
Day: 2
Stardate: 2446.01.29
(Starfleet Academy - ACAD CO’s Office - ACADCO, Vice Admiral Duke Williams,
Head of Starfleet Aerospace Corp, Vice Admiral Dale Bracken, Starfleet
Academy Dean of Students, Captain Liam Frost-Alexander, Associate Director
of Starfleet Security, Investigations, Captain Thomas Hart - 1300)
“To say I am pissed is an understatement,” Duke said as he looked out at
the assembled officers. “This is the first time in 20 years that the
Academy Baseball Friendly has erupted into a brawl, especially of this
magnitude. We have people throwing haymakers, attacking command level
officers, just going absolutely apeshit.” Duke paused. “I need to know how,
why, who, and discipline needs to be swift.”
“Yes sir,” Liam nodded as he began to look at the name of cadets involved.
“Starfleet Security is ready to assist,” Thomas added.
“Dale, I know this is outside of your purview, but there is no one else I
trust to get to the heart of this. You have a reputation of being a hard
ass, but fair.”
Beneath her calm exterior, Dale seethed. She, like Duke had seen the
incoming reports with dismay, irritation, and a growing sense of
exasperation. “Of course old friend. I’ll help in any way I can.” She
nodded curtly the lack of playful remark, or whimsical manner displaying
her level of mood.
“The easiest thing to do right now is to divvy up the work. Liam, I want
you to interview the cadets, gather them together, see what they say, start
with the batter at the plate when this started. Figure out what started it,
and get me a report.”
“Aye sir, I’ve already got all the cadets involved waiting in the main
lecture hall. I’ll get started right away.”
Duke nodded and moved on, “Tom, review footage from the game, and have your
team interview fans in the stand.”
“Roger,” Thomas replied.
“Dale, I have some of my staff interviewing the Starfleet Officers
involved, but I want you and I to focus on the Exeter crew, seems they were
involved in the thick of it, and you and I have a vested interested in that
crew not becoming a ship of screw ups.”
“I’m on it, just send me the list.” She said quietly.
Duke slided a PADD Dale’s way. “I want you to interview the following
officers, including my son, the Exeter’s new CMO, and the Romulan Exchange
officer we just assigned to her.”
She nodded, opening the file and read the list of names. She knew that
she’d be passed any appropriate footage.
“I’ll interview the new acting First Officer, the new Acting Chief of
Security, The Chief Flight Officer, and the Chief Science Officer.”
“Understood. You realise of course that once this ball is rolling it can’t
be stopped.” Dale said, not suggesting anything, more making it clear that
no stone would remain unturned. “A lot of reputable Senior Staff seem to be
involved.”
“I mean which of the Exeter’s senior staff wasn’t involved, the Chief
Engineer? I mean…. Just….. I want answers, and someone might not be happy
with the outcome.”
“You’ll get them. For good or ill, you’ll get answers.” Dale sighed, her
mind already on the task at hand.
“Dismssed.”
