"I suppose you are right. But trust me, I plan on giving you a fair shake."
Trip replied.


Tyrek stepped to the Captain’s desk, handing him the PADD containing his
transfer documentation and Personnel profile and laid the rectangular
wooden case on the captain's desk, turning it so the captain could open it.


"Whats this?" Trip asked, looking at the case but not touching it.

" It Is customary for Romulan officers to give their service dagger to
their commanding officer to hold in trust between the two parties that the
subordinate shall not betray their commanding officer, if you have my blade
I can not stab you in the back. That is the closest way to explain it….Oh
and don't worry Sir, security has checked and cleared all my belongings
with a fine eye and undying diligence. " Tyrek said, stepping back and
resting his hands at his sides.

Trip paused. "While I appreciate the gesture, the last time a Romulan
handed me a dagger, he lodged in right into my Abdomen."

"But that was someone else, and who knows what neurological event triggered
his paranoia. So I will accept the dagger, and hope you dont shoot me in
the back while I look at it." Trip began to laugh so Tyrek would know he
was joking
