(USS Exeter – Galu Vozi`s personal quarters – Engineer - Ensign – Galu Vozi-  06:00)



The wake-up alarm went off and the room lights sprang on but Galu hadbeen awake long before his normal get up time. He waved at the alarm to shut itoff as he rolled stiffly out of bed. He shuffled painfully across the room likesome arthritic old man into the bathroom and started in the mirror. The facethat looked back was different somehow it still looked the same, but he feltthat in his eyes and the light inside was dimmer or something. 

He could hardly believe that it had been yesterday that they had gone downto the planet. He still remembered the sight of the wounded as they had all piledon board the Michelangelo. His friends, comrades and senior officers broken anddying on the floor of the shuttle craft. 

He splashed some water on his face hoping that would wash the imagesaway. It did not so he walked into the sonic shower and turned it on. He wouldhave preferred a real shower this morning, but everything seemed so much of aneffort. He winced as he put his clean uniform on realizing that he had more bruisesthen he thought he did.

He stood in front of the main mirror looking at his reflection.

“Presentable.”

He turned towards the door.

He stepped through his door into the corridor and headed towards mainengineering.
