Mission: The flames of purity
Day: 16
Stardate: 2445:09:16

(Gamma Quadrant Planet, Temple grounds – Entity Host – Trentin Jost – 1143)

Trentin had been mostly ignoring the prattling of the woman he had snared in the force field cage that had been left here by the Dominion. Fitting that it once held the great Emissary himself. The generator that was the power supply had fluctuated slightly. There was a team already there that had engaged them. Soon, Jost was sure they would be brought low.

:: We are so close!:: exclaimed the being inside him. Jost could feel his excitement and joy at being near the culmination of his era-long plans.

~I know the array is almost inline for a shot, before the end of the afternoon of this planet we will see the end of your cousins in the temple~

Jost started the machine generating the chroniton particles they would need to fire the weapon. The machine began to hum happily generating particles.

“It’s just the beginning of the end for your precious prophets….”

Jost had then heard a commotion, his honor guards were engaging someone in the shrine.

:: Kill them. Kill them all, :: hissed the beast inside.

“It appears we have company…” Jost said.

“Oh, don’t worry, I’ll be back for you soon enough.” Jost said and headed into the hewn stone shrine.

Trentin entered the back archway which lead to what would have been a small anteroom or foyer with two paths leading around to a pulpit on which were three ornate pedestals for visiting Orbs of the Prophets, which never came. The former Vedek marched up the stairs, much like he did numerous times before giving guest lectures on artifacts he had reclaimed from the Cardassian occupation the snakes had stolen during that period.

“Sire, Starfleet attacks,” one of his honor guard reported as he entered the room.

“I know that, kill them, or don’t bother coming back.” Jost warned.

He was ignored by his groups leader as he bowed solemnly and ran into the next room to meet Starfleet security, knuckle duster Bajoran phaser in hand and at the ready. Jost looked out at the pews and columns that made up this small sanctuary. With a wave of his hand he lit every candle and torch sconce inside the building and out.

“Let them come.” Jost said to himself or no one. “What was built to contain worshipers of the false prophets will no contain death.”

“The only way to defeat fear is to tell it 'No'." No - we will not take shortcuts on the path to righteousness. No - we will not break the rules that protect us from our basest instincts. No - we will not allow desperation to destroy moral authority.” - Michael Burnham, Star Trek: Discovery

“No, I’m from Iowa, I only work in outer space.” – Adm. James T. Kirk, “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”
