(USS Exeter –Bridge – CO, Lt. Commander Trip Williams - 10:30)

“Sir. They had some problems on descent to the planet which seemed to be
resolved before they touched down. They have landed half a kilometer from
their target point and look like they are in the process of deploying the
team. I will keep an eye on the terrain along their insertion route.”

"Thank you Master Chief, give me any updates you can. Bridge out."

Trip sat silently on the bridge. Things were progressing, but they were
facing heavy resistance, and as long as a certain energy field was in
effect they would be unable to beam out any of the away team members in a
crisis.

~I know I'm not the most spiritual man.~ He thought to himself. ~And I
really don't know who or what is out there. But I just know in my gut, in
my heart that there has to be some higher power out there, a benevolent
one. If you are out there, if you do exist. Watch over my guys. Keep them
safe, help me bring them home.~

"Capitan," Came the heavily Spanish accented reply from the OPS officer
Santiago Rodriguez Trujillo, "The Leonardo is returning to the Exeter,
Ensign Sleeford is in need of immediate atencion medica. Seems urgent, they
are requesting we lower our shields."

Trip nodded and the Exeter lowered her shields temporarily so that Sleeford
could be beamed directly to sickbay. Again he sat in silence.
