(USS Exeter –Personal Quarters – FO Cmdr Ailynn Bracken - 1240)

Ailynn lay back on her bed, tiredness had all but taken over her being. The
morning had been long, and intense, not since her days of a&e rotations had
she felt such bone-deep weariness. The level of responsibility had grown of
course, but she’d long since thought she’d seen the back of the 24 hour
shifts that had typified her ER rotation, eating in passing, grabbing ten
minutes sleep where it had been possible.

Thankfully, instantly switching off when she found those minutes was a
skill that it seemed that she hadn’t forgotten.

“Bracken to CFO Williams, Lieutenant Cortez , Ensigns Sleeford and More,
and Civilian DuBois; report to Counsellor Jack Roberts as soon as possible.
Check his calendar and request an appointment at your earliest convenience.
Bracken out.”

Ailynn sighed as the channel closed, the tiredness taking over her, her
fight against it fading. Slowly she pulled off the scrubs that she was
wearing and threw them onto the chair by her bed, then slipping under the
covers, her fading waking thoughts considered one last thing.


“Computer, set alarm for 40 minutes.”

[acknowledged]

She was asleep before the confirmation message was finished.
